May-06-05  soberknight: The tortoise won the race because the Hare wouldn't Budge!
Jan-03-09  WhiteRook48: even funnier if Hare was Black and White was A Tortoise
Jan-03-09  WhiteRook48: what a Budgy joke

Phony Benoni: I assume Black is the tortoise because he wouldn't Budge.
Apr-01-18  dumbgai: Thank you CG for choosing a real game for this April Fools Day instead of some silly <5 move game.

perfidious: A lyric from Moody Blues' <Tortoise and the Hare> is a propos at the finish, given the tragicomic situation faced by the black queen:

<Your load is so heavy

and your legs want to rest>

Apr-01-18  Gilmoy: The Hare and the Budgie :)
Apr-01-18  catlover: The last few moves of this game are particularly fun.

Of course, the players' last names are a lot of fun, too. I wonder if B. Hare got into fights at school as a boy over his last name.

Apr-01-18  thegoodanarchist: < I wonder if B. Hare got into fights at school as a boy over his last name.>

They knew better than to ridicule B. Hare.

Why? Because of the old addage:

Hare today, goon tomorrow.

Apr-01-18  JohnBoy: This game strikes me as having been played in the 1870s, not the 1950s.
Apr-01-18  Nosnibor: <JohnBoy> This was definitely a 1950`s game. B.Hare figured in the 1959 B.C.F.grading list.He played for Gloucestershire County Team and I believe was related to Tim Hare whom I played on a couple of occasions during the 1970`s.
Apr-01-18  Knight13: Slow and steady wins the race only if it's long distance.
Apr-01-18  morfishine: This is one of the greatest games ever!

And a terrific, spot-on pun to boot!

What more could we ask for!

April fools

Apr-01-18  The Kings Domain: The grind. Nice pileup on the kingside.
Apr-01-18  razetime: A very nice game, and a perfectly executed mating attack. The only thing that can prolong black's game is Bf4+ and that is crushed by Nexf4 Qxg6 Rh8# The king is given no space to move, and every other response is answered by Rh8#.
