Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-08-02  bishop: Schelchter known as the drawing master somehow could not make himself retreat his bishop to e7 on the eleventh move,I cannot find a forced win for white if he had done that.

Sneaky: I see what you mean, but 11. ...Be7 12. g4 Nh6 13. Bxh6 and Black still has his pawns messed up.
Jan-09-02  bishop: After 12g4 black can retreat the knight to d6 and avoid doubled pawns. Anyway on general grounds two bishops are probably enough compensation for doubled pawns in an ending.
May-03-06  Whitehat1963: So why is this (the Opening of the Day) called the Frankenstein-Dracula Variation?
Apr-19-12  bengalcat47: Very impressive win for Lipke!

keypusher: 9....Nf5 10.0-0 d5 would have kept Black out of trouble. Later Schlechter would have done better to keep the rooks on.
