tpstar: <azaris> Nice game. I wouldn't expect this line to work well for Black, trading material down a Pawn. Good tactics, although I'm surprised the Runaway Horse lived. =)
Aug-28-06  AbhinavAsthana: "Can any one tell me why did black did not play 8...nxc5"?
Aug-28-06  jiffiler: I think you mean why did WHITE not play nxc5, which wouldn't work as black would play Qa5, check the King and get the knight on c5 on the next move. Apologies if this is not what you meant.
Sep-01-06  AbhinavAsthana: Thank you Jiffiler. This was exactly what I meant. I now realise my mistake.
Jun-18-09  TheTamale: Somewhere in his autobiography, Marshall comments something to the effect of, "To play Albin's Counter Gambit in effort to gain a full point is ridiculous!"

  keypusher: <TheTamale>

Repertoire Explorer: Frank James Marshall (black)

I think Reinfeld wrote the "autobiography." He took some liberties with Lasker's views on the opening when he edited one of Lasker's books, so maybe he did the same here.

Jun-19-09  YoungEd: <keypusher> is correct; at least, Hooper and Whyld's reliable "The Oxford Companion to Chess" states that Reinfeld wrote the Marshall book. Regardless, the quote that <TheTamale> gives is still audaciously fun.
