Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-11-05  Skylark: How is this a draw? After Re7+ can't black win a rook with Kd8?
Jan-11-05  Knezh: OK,let's see.
37. Re7+ Kd8 38. Ka1! i don't see a way for black to continue. Taking the pawn with b-rook would permit a rook trade with white winning, and taking with the other rook forces a perpetual.
May-05-16  ndg2: Is this where the 'blind pigs' remark stems from? It was supposedly Janowski who coined this phrase.

Janowski vs Showalter, 1899

Aug-02-23  generror: At least here Janowski didn't play <8.Kf1> as in Janowski vs Marshall, 1912, but the perfectly fine <8.Nbd2>. However, <17.Kc3>!? Although the king seems quite okay for the moment there, I'm really not sure that this is a good place for him.

I also read that Janowski coined the "blind swine" phrase by referring to a pair of rooks on the seventh rank that could not find a mate as “blind swine", implying that they should be able to find mate. Well as he found out here, this isn't always the case :)
