HeMateMe: Love the pun! (didn't like the movie).

An Englishman: Good Evening: Poor Colonel Moreau. They don't even know for certain which one actually played.
Apr-17-21  Brenin: Monte Carlo 1903 was not a triumph for White: the good colonel's score (amounting to his entire CG record) was 0/26. Give him credit for sticking to the task, and not withdrawing.

  OhioChessFan: Amusing pun.
Apr-17-21  YoungEd: Around move 19, Moreau must have been hoping like crazy that Schlechter would take a three-fold repetition! I think that White goes wrong as early as move 5; he probably needed to keep the c-pawn unblocked a bit longer.

FSR: It's been done. <Jan-04-07 Whitehat1963: White king got lost on the pawn Island of Col. Moreau.> Moreau vs J Mason, 1903

Also <Jan-03-13 Premium Chessgames Member ketchuplover: His rivals feared his (pawn) islands :)> Colonel Moreau

I didn't find it in Game Collection: Game of the Day Pun Index (I Got - Levertin and concluded it hasn't been done as a Game of the Day title. That level of due diligence is not enough? If not, could you briefly describe the procedure you are following before suggesting a title?

< I think that White goes wrong as early as move 5> It's move 8 which leads to the ghastly vivisection of the kingside pawns into isolated islands.

Somehow, I'm reminded of this GOTD:

J Rudd vs A Golding, 2015

OhioChessFan: <beat>, FWIW, I typically do a search of the phrase as well as search Phony's Game Collection. Sometimes I do either/or. But if it hasn't been used for GOTD, why not submit it?

  OhioChessFan: 8. Ne2 is painfully ugly. I can't imagine a 1000 would play it.

al wazir: <OhioChessFan: 8. Ne2 is painfully ugly.> Agreed. I'm surprised that black was able to resist the urge to play Bxf3 for even one move.

FSR: <beatgiant> You did nothing wrong. Indeed, there are many puns that have been used more than once for GOTD. And this one had never been used for GOTD, though other people had the same idea. Not a problem at all.
