al wazir: What happens after 23...Qd8 ?
Jul-11-11  Dr. J: White will play Rdh2 whether Black captures the Queen or not. Black must lose a piece at least.
Jul-11-11  sevenseaman: I see a problem. Supposing it goes 23...Bxf6 24. gxf6 c3

How does White handle it from here is dicey.

  Oginschile: 24 gxf6 c3 25. Rdh2 and there doesn't appear to be anything black can do at all, 25... Qxb2 26. Nxb2 cxb2+ 27. Kc1 and it's mate next on h8.
Jul-11-11  Seaholme: 25. Rdh2 cxb2+ 26. Kb1 black is completely lost ( 25...Dxb2+ 26. Nxb2)

Oginschile: lol.. sorry.. 27. Kb1 in my line. These stupid fat fingers...
Jul-11-11  vsiva1: hi, al wazir,
After 23. ...Qd8 may be continued as,
24.Rdh2 qxf6 25. gxf6 Bf8 26.Rh8#
Jul-11-11  abuzic: <al wazir: What happens after 23...Qd8 ?> 23...Qd8 ( # in 8): 24. Rdh2

On 23...Qxb2 24. Nxb2 Bxf6 25. gxf6 Rxb2 26. Rxb2 Rxb2 27. Kxb2 and black is down a R (same position can be reached after 23...Bxf6). So..# or R down.

Jul-11-11  mpl: 22. ♕f6 looks great, but 22. ♖h7! may be even better: Δ ♖xg7, ♕f6
Jul-11-11  Elrathia Kingi: This is a beautiful attack. White uses his knight to open the f file, then capitalizes with a quiet 21.Rd2. Black is in a hopeless situation, but 22.Qf6 ends the game immediately. It is not possible for the king to flee -- ie, 22...Kf8 23.Rh8! And the king will again be trapped on the back row.
Jul-11-11  ColeTrane: seaholme summed it up
Jul-11-11  ossipossi: <6...h6> & <12...g6> weakening BKside, more if Q side is completely undeveloped till move 16... what is this?
Jul-11-11  kevin86: White will double on the h-file and mate;black's triplet on the b-file is biting granite.
Jul-11-11  abuzic: <21...Rb7> (21...Qa5, and white cannot play 22. Qf6 due to 22...Bxf6 23. gxf6 Rxb2! and white is in trouble).

<22. Qf6! Rab8?>, grasping the Q immediately with 22...Bxf6 and before the white N goes to d1!, black will be a N down for a P after sac his own Q: (22. Qf6 Bxf6 23. gxf6 Qxb2 24. Rxb2 Rxb2 25. Kxb2). White has another choice 22. Rh7! and black will give a Q and B for 2 Rs to avoid # (22. Rh7 Rab8 23. Rxg7 Kxg7 24. Rh2 Qxb2 25. Rxb2 Rxb2).

Jul-11-11  Quad Fifties: Oddly enough, thats the first time I have ever seen the white bishop inert during the entire game. It seems like Mr. Norwoods plan of creating a diagonal wedge of pawns into the kingside had effectively rendered the white bishop useless. Very instructive.
Jul-11-11  weisyschwarz: Is not 15...Bxe5 a better option?
Jul-11-11  apexin: It probably is.
Jul-11-11  WhiteRook48: 22 Qf6 is a very nice innovation
