Feb-16-05 | | PizzatheHut: I'm on AJ's ban list, so what the heck...does anyone else think he has some sort of chemical imbalance in his brain? I ask that in all seriousness. |
Feb-16-05 | | hintza: Let the back-stabbing begin... |
Feb-16-05 | | acirce: <hintza> Well, I didn't view Pizza's post as an attack. His behaviour does give cause for concern. Wouldn't it help if someone with cancer got told? |
Feb-18-05 | | jondoe: I laugh out loud for several minutes every morning right after I wake up. It's a good way to get the blood going. |
Feb-18-05 | | aw1988: <PizzatheHut> You are being far too harsh. I see no problem at all with Mr. Goldsby, except for the fact he is a little sensitive. Within a range, this is perfectly normal. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <aw1988>
Hmmm, I have no idea what you guys are even referring to! What's up??? |
Feb-21-05 | | aw1988: <Life Master AJ> It seems that Mr. Goldsby has turned into Mr. Caesar, only without knives in the back. |
Feb-21-05 | | PizzatheHut: <hintza> I'm not back-stabbing, I'm asking a serious question. It seems as if he has some sort of temper control issues, possibly caused by a chemical imbalance. If you read through his arguements with various users, you'll notice constant, unprovoked insults and childish name-calling. He seems to get VERY angry without just cause. Here is a very mature post from AJ: <LIFE Master AJ: <Arturo-Ribby-era>
Do you have anything intelligent to say? Or did your neck just throw up?> Here he is making fun of someone who is not a native english speaker: <ArturoRivera: Life Master AJ: Forgot to tell you, i did not understood the joke (<Arturo-Ribby-era>, i do not speak english very well, at least not for the slang i think you are using, can you please explain it to me?> <LIFE Master AJ: <ar>
Have someone who speaks the language ... draw you a DIAGRAM!!! (ha, ha, ha)> He seems more than "a little sensitive" in my mind. |
Feb-21-05 | | hintza: <PizzatheHut> Yes, I am not denying that he leaves a lot to be desired in terms of good conduct. The "back-stabbing" thing wasn't a serious accusation of course. In fact I would agree with moast if not all of what you said. |
Feb-27-05
 | | LIFE Master AJ: <hintza>
Is "moast" even a real word? :) |
Feb-27-05 | | hintza: <LIFE Master AJ> Unfortunately not. I think I was trying to write "most" while making some toast, but I don't like to boast so I'll end this post! :-) |

 | | offramp: I like the word DuMont uses about this game: 'transcendental'! |

 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: Look at the halfway point of the game, 13...Rd8. At first glance, the position seems symmetrical, but look again. Black has already castled, White has not, and Black has already put one Rook into play, encouraging White to spend another tempo on 14.Qe2. Black spent one move putting his Bishop on c5, while White spent two putting his Bishop on c4. White *slightly* misplaced his Queen on d2. 6.dxc5 made Black's King side development easier. From such tiny positional considerations Rubenstein laid the foundation of one of the greatest combinations in history. Who says positional chess is boring? |
Apr-24-05 | | Saph: I must say that 3 exclamation marks is well deserved, seeing as Black's plan involved what would feel like chess suicide to most of us. I'd also like to thank <An Englishman> for the ever-polite posts, and they're interesting too! |
Apr-24-05 | | paladin at large: <I'd also like to thank <An Englishman> for the ever-polite posts, and they're interesting too!> Ditto. |

 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: Thank you for the kind words. I try to live by the Golden Rule, but somehow it's easier for me online than in real life--I get everything backwards. |
Apr-25-05 | | Milo: I suppose white could sac the exchange with 21.Bxh7+...? Not that the game won't be hopeless, but less hopeless than mate, maybe? |
May-07-05 | | sfm: From a "move-hard-to-find"-point of view the last ! is not justified (compared with other moves in history 'only' getting 2 :-), but is an "emotional" one, awarded for the beauty. Kmoch was also the one with "Game of the century" verdict for the Byrne-Fischer Gruenfeld. It's like in football - exited comments may add to the enjoyment of the game. Whether they stand up in comparison
with other performances over time can always be discussed. For me Rubinstein can keep the 3 exclamation marks. What a pretty crush! |
Aug-28-05 | | Titicamara: This game is Rubinstein's "Immortal Game." |
Aug-28-05 | | atragon: Rotlewi was a very good player. He died too young to prove his great talented game. Unfortunately he is known "only" for this game (when he was only 18 years old), of course the best of Akiba. Four years later Rotlewi was able to draw against the same terrible opponent
Rotlewi vs Rubinstein, 1911 |
Aug-28-05 | | iron maiden: He also beat Nimzowitch, Schlechter and Marshall; unfortunately, his career was too short to make a name for himself. So virtually all he's remembered for is his amateurish play in this game. |
Sep-15-05 | | khense: I didn't see the "Rubenstein's Immortal" initially, as I like to hide the result until I can guess who's winning. As soon as I saw the ending, I thought "Rubenstein's Immortal Game," then I thought - No, black was holding too many good cards |

 | | al wazir: http://www.chessgames.By the 15th move, in a nearly symmetric position, black has gained two tempi (white took an extra move to get his queen to e2 and to get his bishop to d3), and black has the initiative. By exchanging knights black leaves white's defenders shorthanded, and the attack of the fianchettoed bishop becomes deadly. This is the same tactical idea as in yesterday's puzzle (Larsen vs B Eley, 1972). |
Sep-15-05 | | domradave: This game reminds me of the other "immortal" game of Bobby Fischer, against Robert Byrne. The bishop and the white squares! |
