Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-12-11  wordfunph: this was the controversial game where GM Zoltan Ribli complained successfully when GM Nigel Short posed to wear a particularly loud pair of short pants before play.

perfidious: Don't remember this charming little story-did Short strip on the spot in favour of something more conventional?

GrahamClayton: Apparently Short changed into a pair of full-length trousers for the game.
Feb-20-14  Shams: A surprising story, given that Short was himself critical when a local master wore shorts a couple years ago at the Edmonton International tournament. And this 1987 game was at an Interzonal! Perhaps his feelings about sartorial propriety have evolved over the last couple decades.

Plaskett: He wore the same shorts against me before we drew our last round game the following month in the British Championship. I let myself admire his legs...

  Fusilli: <Plaskett> lol

<Shams> Possibly. I know I care more about these things now than when I was in my 20s. And I am about the same age as Short.

Sep-16-15  TheFocus: Can I get fries with my order of short ribs?
