Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-26-12  soberknight: A crazy game starting with 5...Kd8.
Mar-04-13  Abdel Irada: In which both players attack with their kings at the earliest opportunity.
Sep-04-13  ArturoRivera: I propose a pun for this game "you shall not pass"

offramp: 5...Kd8 has been theory for about 150 years. Very good game!

offramp: <Aug-26-12 soberknight: A crazy game starting with 5...Kd8.> My apologies. To my surprise 5...Kd8 appears in the <chessgames> database as a novelty! A novelty on move 5 in the venerable old Scotch! And played by a pooter. Normally black takes the e-pawn first.
Oct-23-17  Mikhail1962: Kd8?? Bc5!?
Oct-23-17  Russo: I wonder what stockfish would have to say about that.

Oct-24-17  newzild: Awesome game.

A better title might have been "The Return of the King."

Oct-25-17  kevin86: Underpromotion!
Oct-26-17  nalinw: <newzild> Brilliant - can you submit this game again with the new pun?

I'm curious -- was 4....Qh4 put in by the programmer, with the engine then deciding that taking the pawn was a bad idea? It doesn't make a lot of sense to play ....Qh4 and then not grab the pawn. "If you say A, you must say B." It's the law!
