Oct-20-03  Lawrence: Szily wasn't silly, Wloch was. After 8....Qxa1 there is not a single square for his black Queen to go to, and it is lost after 10.Nb3.

Black loses Bishop and Queen for Bishop and Rook.

  FSR: Szily Putty.
Oct-09-14  Jausch46: A witty trap prepared by Szily! Very clever.

sleepyirv: Wloch ended up being putty in Szily's hands.
Oct-09-14  kevin86: The queen is a goner!
Oct-09-14  AvidChessMan: Took me a couple of seconds to realize the queen was trapped.
Oct-09-14  jankopod: I don't understand why Wloch resigned. What went through his mind? Could somebody enlighten me also who was Wloch.
Oct-09-14  WJW147: Many mistakes were made in Europe between 1939 and 1945

FSR: <jankopod: I don't understand why Wloch resigned. What went through his mind?>

White threatens 10.Nb3, so Black will lose his queen for a minor piece, leaving him down a queen for a rook.

Oct-09-14  newhampshireboy: Wloch was a sucker and Szily exploited his greed to good effect!
Oct-09-14  Castleinthesky: A nice trap to remember.

Penguincw: Ha! Love this pun (mostly because I get it). I remember a couple years ago (2011 I believe), I made silly putty myself. I think I still have it in my fridge...
Oct-09-14  Moszkowski012273: Simply 7...Ba5 and black maintains a healthy advantage.
Oct-09-14  morfishine: This game does not qualify as "Game of the Day" on any reputable site.

The "pun" is pathetic in the extreme; not only because its not a pun in the true sense, but merely another in a long aimless list of pointless, baseless, play on words...

Awful all the way around

perfidious: Black's ....Qa5 did not quite have the same effect as in the well known game Jansa vs Korchnoi, 1969.
