Feb-01-04  sac 4 mate: Return of the Fool's Mate.
Feb-01-04  TrueFiendish: Boy oh boy--didn't he suspect something was up when 2...e5 came out?
Apr-28-04  ruylopez900: I don't know, this guy had a pretty weird idea of how to open the game....he could have just not seen it...
Mar-15-05  Chessography: LOL, simply ridiculous! I was curious to see what occured in the line 2. h3, when a 3-move game popped up! Obviously, VK didn't read "My First Chess Book" as a toddler ('Fool's Mate')
Oct-08-05  AlexanderMorphy: well some players focus way too much on their own position in the beginning and don't expect an attack in the first few moves...however a 3 move mate is not acceptable!
Oct-08-05  AlexanderMorphy: I can't believe i wasted a milestone (100th post) ON THIS STUPID GAME!
Nov-11-05  hidude: what's with h3

FSR: A game for the ages.
Nov-26-05  Chopin: Van just might go down in history as one of the worst players.
Jan-13-07  Tactic101: LOL! I am just busting a gut seeing how a player can be so stupid to let a such a thing happen to him!
Feb-18-07  Rubenus: The only 'real' fool's mate: L Darling vs R Wood, 1983
Feb-28-07  scolley: Believe it or not, I had a postal game from the mid 1970's that was very similar. This one went like this:

1.f4 d5
2.h3 e5
3.fxe5 Qh4+
4.0-1

Feb-28-07  scolley: I won BTW.
Sep-17-07  paavoh: Back in high school I played with Black against an over-confident, attack-at-all-costs player: 1. f4 e6 2. g4 Qh4++ 0-1. He just opened with the wrong pawns (chuckle).
Apr-25-08  JimmyVermeer: Chopin, I'd say Van Kessel is his last name, and his first name isn't given. Dutch people do that.
Jul-11-08  whiteshark: I'd have never guessed 2.h3 as <2.a4> is emphatically the best move. :D
Mar-31-09  OnlyBelieve: Well as a Bird player myself, all I have to say is that this is why few of us choose the solemn path of the Bird. There are many traps hidden for both sides.
Nov-01-09  JimmyVermeer: It's sort of amusing to see Dutch people screw up the Dutch variation.
Jun-25-12  I play the Fred: Guess-the-Move Final Score: van Kessel vs Rensen, 1990. YOU ARE PLAYING THE ROLE OF RENSEN. Your score: -44 (par = 9) IPTF
Dec-25-15  whiteshark: I did the <Kessel run> in less than 4 parsecs...
Dec-25-15  gabriel25: With variations one has always to look for that check, the opponent's and one's own, I have won mny games through absent mindedness. I dont remember losing one, but perhaps it is poor memory.
Mar-27-19  sea7kenp: This was a Correspondence Game???!!!
