Oct-20-04		stormflyer: 54. Be4?? was just horrible. Am I not seeing something, or is 54. Kxg3 a simple draw? White's bishop can just stay on the a4-e8 diagonal and take the Black pawn if it comes to a4. How could Finegold, an IM, make such a terrible mistake?

Oct-20-04		chessgames.com: It's such a horrible blunder that I would suspect that the score might be wrong. Even in incredible time pressure I couldn't imagine a GM playing a move like that.

Oct-20-04		pawn52: 54...Be4 should have three queston marks, not just two. Thanks to that blunder, Black's a-pawn has just become a passed pawn with nothing to stop it from promoting.

Oct-20-04		Zaius: How can white not get a draw from here? 55.Bg2, blocking the g pawn and keeping the a8 square covered. This lets the white king take the g pawn, and allows a pawn for bishop exchange at a8 for a king vs. king draw? I am sure I am wrong since you are certain this is a blunder, but could you tell me how?

Oct-20-04		Zaius: Goes to show you. When you think you've made the worst possible blunder imaginable, there will always be someone somewhere out there ready to make a worst blunder (such as not knowing the pawns' direction).

Jun-19-20		Jambow: Interesting I was at this tournament remember seeing Ben Finegold and his then wife I think her name was Kelly? Kelly was playing across from someone and had her distractors fully employed... Anything for a win lol. Ben was still an I'M then. I think Kaidanov was not fully versed in his English as he had recently immigrated to the USA. I also think had just been mugged too as he recounted it.

Jun-19-20		beatgiant: Finegold himself kibitzed above that the game score here is wrong, and as given here 53...Kxc4? and 54. Be4? are bad blunders (53...a4 wins; 54. Kxg3 draws). Does anyone know the correct score?
