Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-03-08  lost in space: With 7. b6 White tries to avoid Junges speciality, the Meran System.

White kept a bit of an advantage until his move 8. cxd5, which is double bad: A: now it is much easier for Black to develop his ♗ on c8 B. The influnce of Black on sqaure e4 is strenghend.

From move 9-17 Black utilized the advantage, given to him by white's move 8. White tries to establish a minorty attack on the queenside (17-20) but with move 21 (...♘xe3!!) Black got either a direct attack onto the white king or wins a pawn (last is chosen by White).

Afterwards Black utilized his advantage.

Nice, clear strategy from Black.

  piltdown man: Nuerenberg didn't rally.
May-31-23  goodevans: 18.b4? was when things began to go awry for White. It wasn't a bad idea but just needed preparing first. Several ways to do that with 18.Nf1 probably the best of them.

Black's pseudo-sac' ...Nxe3 could actually have been played a move or two earlier with greater effect. As played it allowed White quite a bit of counterplay and despite the material deficit White was in this until the impatient Blunder 38.Nxb4?? (once again a move that just needed preparing first, this time with 38.Qa4).

A small coincidence that White's two big mistakes involved the b4 square and a lack of preparation. Look b4 you leap.

Love the game pun. <piltdown man>'s too.
