Dec-15-04  themindset: no comment on this game? amazing attack.
Apr-06-05  Dionyseus: 7...c5 was awful, Bc5 or dxc3 were better alternatives. Nice mate.
Nov-25-05  ThaDoctor: i like the Queen sac ;-)
Nov-29-05  stha: yup...i don't quite understand 11.-d5 though,...it's probably totaly above me....but i'm sure there is a better move
Dec-18-05  ThaDoctor: proberly 11.-d5 to attack the f-pawn with the follewing 12.-Nh6 he just missed f6!
Jan-01-06  LancelotduLac: From Steinitz' early period, another demonstration why he was called "The Austrian Morphy" back then.

  al wazir: 18...Bg7! would have been better than 18...Be6, the move played. If 19. fxg7 then 19...Rxe8 20. Rf8 Be6. If 19. Qxh8 Bxh8 20. f7 Bg7. If 19. Qf7+ then 19...Be6 20. Qxg7 Rhg8. If 19. f7 then 19...Be6.

White's best is probably 19. Nc3+ Kc4 (19...Kxd4? 20. Rad1+ Kc4 21. Qa4+ Qb4 22. Rf4+ Kd3 23. Qd1+ Ke3 24. Rf3#) 20. Qa4+ Qb4 21. fxg7 Rg8 23. Rf8 Be6 24. Raf1, but there might be a way to catch the fleeing black ♔ and finish it off.

Mar-07-06  Cyphelium: <al wazir> Isn't 18.- ♗g7 19. ♘c3+ ♔c4 20. ♕h5 just completely winning?
Mar-07-06  Saruman: In <Cyphelium>'s line if; 18.-Bg7 19.Nc3+ Kc4 20.Qh5 <Bf8> 21.Qe2+ Kb4 22.a3+(Nd5+ forks the queen but the text is better) Ka5 23.b4+ cxb4 24.axb4+ Kxb4 25.Nd5+ Kb3 26.Rfb1#.
Mar-07-06  Saruman: If in the same line <22.-Kb3> 23.Qd1+ Kc4 24.d5! (sets up a mating net) Qxb2 25.Rf4+ Kxc3 26.Qf3+ Kc2(26.-Kd2 27.Rd1+ Kc2 28.Qd3#) 27.Rc4+ Kd2 28.Rd1#.

plang: 4..Qe7?! is a bit odd. Black was lost quickly in this game.
