ray keene: my note to move 14 for black indicates how white shd handle this sharp and dynamic position
Dec-18-12  Mesterhakkeren: Very nice game and very useful annotations. Thanks!
Mar-03-16  whiteshark: If you annotate <22.Ne5?> I'd expect that you would give a better move instead.
Sep-05-16  ChesterKing46: White losses after 15.h3 Bh2+

Korora: Castling into it actually WORKED!? *jaw drops*
Dec-06-22  Honey Blend: The suggestion 15. ♕b1 was nice, and that made me think of 15. ♕c2. In contrast with the former, here we invite 15. ... ♘b4:

16. ♕a4+ and now:

I. 16. ... ♗d7 17. ♘b5 ♗xb5 18. ♗xb5+ ♘c6 19. ♖ac1, further putting pressure along the c-file. If Black does not play 17. ... ♗xb5 White can play ♘xd6 afterwards to get rid of the KB. Giving up the exchange 17. ... axb5 18. ♕xa8 only favors White.

II. 16. ... ♘c6 17. ♘b5 and then ♘xd6 after the ♕ moves, similar to I

III. 16. ... ♕d7 17. ♗b5 ♘c6 18. ♗xh6 gxh6 19. ♘e5, shifting all attention to the queenside. 19. .. ♗xe5 might be an important move here, to stop any ♘xc6 thrusts, and again forcing a trade of one of black's bishops.

These lines being ruled out may be the reason why 15. ♕b1 is better, but inviting an opponent to play against complications may be someone else's cup of tea, so there.

Unless it's just a really bad move and there loads of better alternatives. Maybe even the sort of move where doing nothing would be better (if that were allowed).

perfidious: With little reflexion, it is not difficult to see that allowing the activisation of the bishop on d7 is not at all a good proposition for White.
Dec-06-22  Teyss: Congrats to GM Keene for this great game. 16...O-O! is indeed incredible: White was probably expecting to hassle the Black King in the centre or the Qside. After that Black's attack unfolds propelled by the, well, kinetic energy of the position. Which proves that when you have a good strategy don't be scared, just go for it.

Just wondering if can one read a high level player's emotions, in this case surprised/stressed/other after 16...O-O, or if they keep a poker face at all times.

And thanks for the interesting comments, very thorough and honest e.g. re. the missed 15.Qb1. <whiteshark: If you annotate <22.Ne5?> I'd expect that you would give a better move instead.> That's a bit unfair considering all the annotations already provided. SF recommends 22.Qe3 Bf4 23.Qd3 (-1.5 at 29 ply).
