May-09-05  JSYantiss: Black could play 32...Be7, but 33. Bd6 would either win another pawn or the game.
May-09-05  orior: I think that 33. Bc7 will win the bishop for that pawn.
May-09-05  soberknight: Both moves win, but 33 Bc7 is quicker. It's hard to see at what point Black lost the game. Possible improvements include 20...Nxd3, 21...Kh8, and 23...Bc8.
May-09-05  halcyonteam: i think black should not have captured on the 18. ... Nxd5

This creates a passed pawn that is too powerful for black's forces to handle.

May-09-05  EmperorAtahualpa: What happens after 21...♔h8?
May-09-05  kevin86: After,32...♗e7 33 ♗c7 and white's extra pawn becomes an extra piece.
May-09-05  Jaymthetactician: This game is so irrelavant! I mean, you think with Chessbase's 2.5 million game database from 1520 to 2004 you would get at least 1 million games before 1900, but such is not the case, in fact a good 99% of the games on there are from no name schmuck's that make the 150 feel like a waste, why not have 100 Greco games, 300 Morphy games, 10,000 Fischer games when I can have 1,000,000 games of Joe loser.
May-09-05  Jaymthetactician: Oh, and since white won this in an opening I like as black I wont bother to look at it, just not to play the mistake move in a game.
May-09-05  Jaymthetactician: And how can the jerk trade off rook's like that!! Now a rook endgame is impossilbe! Leaving on the rook's would be better, and at least trade one set of bishops.
May-09-05  Shokwave: Wow...Jaym has issues.
May-09-05  hintza: Wow, you took your time realising that...
May-09-05  Jaymthetactician: Still, wouldnt you want a database with QUALITY games, I mean, if you are going to say from 1520 to 2004, DONT have over 1,000,000 games from over the year 1990! That is a rip-off ludocrouse! They should have At Least 1,000,000 historical games. and include ALL world championship matches, including those by Philidor, Boi, Greco, and Damiano, as well as the Saint Amant- McDonnel 80 game match in it's entirety.
May-09-05  soberknight: <Jaymthetactician> I know you're really Jaymthegenius, but you can't hide from me. Nice try, buster.
May-09-05  Jaymthetactician: soberknight: <Jaymthetactician> I know you're really Jaymthegenius, but you can't hide from me. Nice try, buster.

Actually, I had no intention of hiding, it say's on my profile that I was jaymthegenius, but it is a negative image people have of me, so I put down another trait of mine.

May-09-05  EmperorAtahualpa: Can nobody answer my question what happens after 21...♔h8?
May-09-05  crafty: 21...♔h8 22. exf5 ♖xf5 23. ♘d4 ♖xf1+ 24. ♖xf1 ♗c8 25. ♘b5   (eval 0.95; depth 14 ply; 750M nodes)
May-09-05  soberknight: <jaymthetactician> I should have looked at your profile. My bad.
May-09-05  jediknightness: guys guys guys, where is the love.
*you do not want to argue about bad reps, you want to go home and rethink you life*

It's always easy to critisise. Think about this:
· chessgames.com is free
· why don't you start collecting the 1.000.000 games and submit them · there are no 'bad' games. This is like saying there are 'stupid questions' or 'ugly people' - it all lies in the eyes of the beholder

Sneaky: n30, jaythewhatever wasn't criticizing this site, he was criticizing chessbase. <you think with Chessbase's 2.5 million game database from 1520 to 2004 you would get at least 1 million games before 1900, but such is not the case, in fact a good 99% of the games on there are from no name schmuck's> That reminds me, I have to boycott the local library. They have about a million books but only 37 plays by Shakespeare. You'd think they would have hundreds of plays by Shakespeare, or thousands even! By the way, anybody here know where to get a copy of Bobby Fischer's "My 10 Thousand Memorable Games"??
May-10-05  Milo: Sneaky, I was going to point out the slight logical inconsitencies in Jay's position, but I think you got there first...
May-10-05  Jaymthetactician: there are no 'bad' games.

Actually, most games are (even in computer matches, I put Deep Shredder 9 on shootout Or Fritz 7 vs engine match! And do a full analyisis and gives itself ?? marks, and this is not to discourage cheaters from progging, although feel free to take it this way, I have some good winning sacrifices on chess.ac recently, some of which werent accepted, simply making me a pawn up 3 pawns = a knight, so having two pawns in hand I take the h-pawn with a knight, hindering whites castling abilities while keeping the rook away from a central file in an obscure sicilian line, of course I'm a knight down, sorry for digression.)

There are even some bad WCC matches! I alway's say "we get better as the ages progress" for the most part this is true, but I have friends who think that some of Greco's games were computer fabrications against 10 year old club players, but of course in spite of having extensive literature on the game I just can't see checkmate in 15, or even 4 in some games, so yes, Greco has more refined checkmating sense then me, but I have a theoretical and tactical edge.

May-10-05  maoam: You have a tactical edge on someone who by your own admission can calculate more deeply than you?
May-10-05  Jaymthetactician: maoam: You have a tactical edge on someone who by your own admission can calculate more deeply than you?

Well, my mistake, but I have the advantage of reading Killer Chess Tactics and Renko's Intensive course Tactic's 2, so in time I will exceed Greco, I don't play for middlegame mate, so my tactics will involve heading into won endgames or even a slight endgame advantage.

May-10-05  kevin86: I don't know what Jaym... does, but first he should look at what site he is on. This is CHESSGAMES,not chessbase.

Second,in chess, relevance and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some Great Games, in my humble opinion, are pure tripe to some people, while the reverse is also true.

Third,on this site, one can find a game according to several parameters, much more than other sites.
