Jul-20-20  Retireborn: In his book Larsen claims that White has a large advantage after 19.g3 because of the K-side majority, while the Black Q-side majority can't create a passed pawn because of the doubled pawns.

All the same one feels that Black should be able to draw, perhaps with the active 37...Bd4, or 38...Bf8 and then ...Bg7.

Larsen went on to play this 5.Bg5 variation a few more times, including against Smyslov, Gligoric, and Spassky.

perfidious: <Retireborn>, reflecting a bit on your suggestion that Zuidema may have held with a more active line, I agree: it is by no means clear that White could have broken through despite enjoying effectively an extra pawn, due to the closed nature of the position, whereas the passive tack he chose gave his opponent chances to probe for a win without risk.
