Mar-10-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: <Cecco> is of course right. What I missed, after not seeing quick mates, is that Black gains material with check.

  al wazir: My line was <32...Ndf3+ 33. gxf3> Nxf3+ 34. Kf1 (34. Kh1 Qh2#; 34. Kg2 Nxe1+ 35. Qxe1 Qxc4, winning an exchange and a ♙) 34...Qxc4+ 35. Re2 Nd2+ 36. Kg2 Nxb1, winning a piece and a ♙.
Mar-10-21  Walter Glattke: Nc4 unguarded, 32.-Ndxf3+ 33.gxf3 Nxf3+ 34.Kf1 (Kh1 Qh2#/Kg2 Nxe1+) Qxc4+ 35.Re2 Nd2+36.Kg1 Nxb1 34.Kd2 +- in the match. Tartakower: "Never won a match by resign"
Mar-10-21  saturn2: After 32.. Nd3 is a discovered attack on the Nc4

The only reasonable king move is 33.Kf1 Qxc4+ piece

And if 33 gxf3 Nxf3+ 34 Kg2 then Nxe1+ followed by Qxc4 wins an exchange

Mar-10-21  saturn2: 30.Nd6 is impressive only at first thought
Mar-10-21  drollere: this is murkier than it seemed at first view. i had 32. .. Ndf3+, 33. gxf3 Nxf3+, 34. Kf1 Qxc4+, 35. Kg2 Nxe1+, 36. Qxe1 ...

  rodchuck: What happens after 32...Ndf3+ 33. gxf3 Nxf3+ 34. Kf1 Qxc4+ 35.Qe2? White seems OK
Mar-10-21  agb2002: Black has a bishop for a knight.

White threatens Qxf4.

The position of the white pieces, the knight is defenseless, suggests 32... Ndf3+ 33.gxf3 (33.Kf1 Qxc4+ wins; 33.Kh1 Qh2#) 33... Nxf3+:

A) 34.Kh1 Qh2#.

B) 34.Kg2 Nxe1+ 35.Qxe1 Qxc4 - + [r+p vs B].

C) 34.Kf1 Qxc4+

C.1) 35.Kg2 Nxe1+ transposes to A.2.

C.2) 35.Qe2 Qxe2+ 36.Rxe2 (36.Kxe2 Nxe1) 36... Rd1+ 37.Kg2 Nd4 38.Bc2 Rc1 wins decisive material.

C.3) 35.Re2 Rd1+ 36.Kg2 Nh4+ 37.Kg3 Rxb1 wins decisive material.

Mar-10-21  agb2002: 30.e6 is winning: 30... Nxe6 31.Rxe6 Rd1+ (31... fxe6 32.Qxg7#) 32.Re1.

33... Qxf3 I either a transcription error or yet another blunder: 34.Be4 wins.

Mar-10-21  AlicesKnight: I found the main lines that I see <agb2002> has given. The gameline looks wrong.
Mar-10-21  Brenin: Is there also a transcription error around moves 29-30? As <agb2002> has pointed out, 30 e6 Nxe6 31 Rxe6 looks like an obvious winning line, which was hard to miss. Note that 30 ... f6 loses the Q to 31 Ne7+ and 32 Ng6+.
Mar-10-21  mel gibson: I wasn't sure but I knew it was one of the Knights to give check on f3. As it turns out it doesn't matter which one.

HOWEVER -
as per the game -
White INCORRECTLY RESIGNS AT 33!
White can play 34 Be4 or 34 Nd6 to win.

Mar-10-21  TheaN: Yeah pretty sure this should be <32....Ndf3+ 33.gxf3 Nxf3+ 34.Kf1> 34.Kg2 Nxe1+ with Qxc4 -+, Kh1 Qh2# whoops.

<34....Qxc4+ 35.Re2> now 35.Qe2 allows Black to simplify 35....Qxe2+ 36.Rxe2 (else Nxe1) Rd1+ 37.Kg2 (else Rxb1) Ne1+ 38.Kf1 Nd3+ -+. Rxb1 probably wins but why make it harder on yourself.

<35....Rd1+ 36.Kg2 Nh4+ -+> and Rxb1 follows with an uncoordinated White camp.

knaugle: We need to start noting 32. ... Qxf3??
It throws away the win. White resigned on reflex.
Mar-10-21  Cellist: rodchuck: "What happens after 32...Ndf3+ 33. gxf3 Nxf3+ 34. Kf1 Qxc4+ 35.Qe2? White seems OK" Best continuation may be 35. ... Nd2+ and then trade Queens. I think Black comes out a piece ahead. For example: 35...Nd2+ 36.Kg2 Qxe2 37.Rxe2 Nxb1.
Mar-10-21  TheaN: Actually, in hindsight, Black might want to opt for 32....Ndf3+ 33.gxf3 Nxf3+ 34.Kf1 Qxc4 35.Qe2 Qxe2+ 36.Rxe2 Rd1+ 37.Kg2 Ne1+ 38.Kf1 Rxb1:

Of course, 38....Nd3+ is objectively superior to Rxb1, but I do like the hopelessness offered to White.

As after 39.Rxe1 Rxe1+ 40.Kxe1 Kh7:

Fastest route to f5 where Black can just hold until White has to commit, up a pawn and a free queen side majority. This is a trivial end game and might end sooner than with rooks on the board.

Mar-10-21  Refused: Went with 32...Ndf3+ 33.gxf3 Nxf3+ 34.Kf1 Qc4+ 35.Qe2 Qxe2+ 36.Kxe2 Nxe1 (36.Rxe2 Nd2+ 37.Ke1 Nxb1)

I really don't get the game continuation with 33...Qxf3 is there any immediate kill that stops white from playing 34.Qxf3 Nxf3+ 35.Kf1 Nxe1 36.Kxe1 that I missed

Mar-10-21  RandomVisitor: 365chess.com lists this game and agrees that the losing 33...Qxf3 was in fact the move played.
Mar-10-21  Jambow: <Refused> I'm asking the same thing as you are two minor pieces vs rook + pawn I would take by choice?
Mar-10-21  RandomVisitor: After 33...Qxf3?! game over, for black...

perfidious: While I trust much of what is posted on 365chess, hard to believe the denouement was, in fact, 33....Qxf3.
