Nov-12-22  EvanTheTerrible: I have no idea what this pun is supposed to mean. Is it just taking the opportunity to create a palindrome from two players with palindromic names?

beatgiant: Pap knocked out (KO) Seres to steal (nab) a win after previously Pap was in a worse (not OK) position. And yeah, palindromes.

An Englishman: Good Evening: That's a PALINDROME??? Will just sit here in stunned silence and not make a peep for the probable Pun of the Year winner (except that doesn't exist).
Nov-12-22  sfm: White should have played 38.Qb1, equal.
After 38.Qb4?? I immediately spotted the mate-in-63 (confirmed by the engine) after 38.-,Qf5, but instead Black played the harmless 38.-,f5, equal.

40.-,g5?? Black might have felt safe because of the back-rank threat of -,Re1+. White has no time for anything. Except for destroying the back-rank threat with 41.Qd1! Black is forced to play 41.-,Qg4, and White has time for the mate-in-14 with 42.Qg5. A lucky punch.

Good pun and game.

Yes, a very nice one! Thanks <beatgiant>

Nov-12-22  Chesschronicle22: Did Seres resigned because he saw mated-in-12 43...Rh1+44.Kxh1 Qf3+ 45.Kg1 Kg4 46.Qxh6 Qd1+ 47.Kh2 Kf3 48.Qh5+ g4 49.Qxf5+ Ke2 50.Qxg4+ Ke1 51.Re8+ Kd2 52.Rd8+ Kc3 53.Rxd1 Kb2 54.Qe6 Ka3 55.Qb3# or he is forced to sac his rook (because there is no other way) and gets mated. Both of witch he resigned to save the humility.

FSR: Players with palindromic surnames include M Bab, Volker Bub, GM Dragoljub Ciric, Pavle Ciric, Stevan Ciric, James Hannah, Wilson Hannah, IM Kalle Kiik, Ivo Kok, IM Jiri Nun, GM Gyula Pap, FM Alexandru Pop, IM Christoph Renner, GM Lajos Seres, IM Bela Soos, and Bora Tot. A few of those with palindromic first names or nicknames are IM Ana Matnadze, GM Anna Muzychuk, Ava San Nicolas, IM Bob Wade (technically Robert Graham Wade), Hannah Lowry O'Reilly, IM Otto Borik, and IA Tat Thang Dang. Tragically, the site has no games by Lon Nol or Mark Kram.

Pro tip: you can always make a palindrome longer by preceding and following it with a George of the Jungle yell <aaAAaaAAaaAAaaAAaa>
