Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-16-07  luzhin: A rare example of two knights dominating two bishops on an open board. Krasenkov's thrust with the g pawn on move 4 is a personal favourite: how pleasing that its next move ends the game.

Joshka: <Luzhin> Who is Groningen that this attack was named after?...very interesting thrust indeed!
Apr-14-07  Knightlord: Groningen is a city in the north of The Netherlands (Holland if you like).

Joshka: In "New In Chess" they mention that this opening is celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year. So it's author is from the city of Groningen?...thanks <Knightlord>
Apr-15-07  nescio: <Joshka> The move 4.g4 appears to have occurred for the first time in this game from round 1 of the Groningen KO tournament: Zvjaginsev vs J Benjamin, 1997

and again in round 2:
Krasenkow vs G Garcia, 1997

I'm guessing that's why it has been named the Groningen attack.
