Penguincw: Congrats <FSR> on another GOTD pun submission. I believe it's #89 or something.

I have to say, that tactic involving moving a piece to the h-file, deflecting the king for an f7 fork I see surprisingly a lot. The most famous example would be Petrosian vs Spassky, 1966, but it can also occur (or almost occur) in games such as Morozevich vs A Giri, 2012 (33.).

I don't know, I like this kind of deflection.

Jan-02-16  RookFile: I know that Kashdan loved his bishops, but I would have gone for ...Bxf3 myself at some point. It appears to me that black could have set up a solid defense even if forced to play something like ....g6.
Jan-02-16  vsiva1: why not "hidden knightie of the year"
Jan-02-16  Pinkerton: Nice pun. Congratulations FSR
Jan-02-16  kevin86: Black must either take and surrender the queen or be mated by the coming white queen on the h-file.
Jan-02-16  TheBish: I think 28. Rxh5!! and 29. Rh8!! must have been the moves of the year. Beautiful game.
Apr-15-16  thegoodanarchist: Kashdan did not cash in
