Jonathan Sarfati: One of Garbett's many crushing wins with this gambit line.

fredthebear: The unsuspected 25.Nxb7!? was eye-catching. FTB is not sure it was best, but the White rook's penetration gets back the minor piece w/lasting pressure.

Jonathan Sarfati: <fredthebear:> Stockfish agrees with you. Black could have kept his disadvantage to a minimum (~0.5) by letting White recapture the piece with 26... ♔f8. Instead of the sacrifice, the straightforward 25.♘xc6 bxc6 26.♖xc6 leads to about +3 advantage, e.g. 26... ♔f8 27. ♖xe6 (either ♖).

fredthebear: <Jonathan Sarfati> Thank you for the specific details. It's good to know what the alternatives were valued at.

Has anyone ever suggested that you sort of resemble Jose R. Capablanca?
