  Teyss: <FSR> <perfidious> 😂

For new kibitzers here or users with severe Alzheimer: Karpov vs Timman, 1988 and Averbakh vs Kholmov, 1947. Apparently the bot Missy is in mode "Rerun old puns, without the comma".

Apart from the fact the pun is slightly overused, it fits the game since the pin on the f6 BN was essential to the game. In the end it allowed White to have 2Ns vs R and expose the BK.

Now, what was I doing before going on this site?

Jul-19-24  goodevans: That made me laugh!
Jul-19-24  Allderdice83: White could have played 26. Rxf6, and after 26 ... Bxf6 27. Bxf6, Black has no way of stopping mate (eg., 27 ... Rc8 28. Qg5+ Kf8 29. Qg7+ Ke8 30. Qg8#, or 27 ... Rb5 (or Re5) 28. Qg3+ leads to mate the same way.

Indeed, Stockfish gives 26. Rxf6 as the second best move (Black's best reply is 26 ... Qd4), not much behind 26. Bxf6. Black's basically lost after 25 ... Qd7? Best is 25 ... Kh8. White's still better after 26. Bxf6+ Bxf6 27. Rxf6 Re7 28. Rf3.

Jul-19-24  BxChess: <goodevans: That made me laugh!> Me to. Its something about the infinite loop of the original pun, and the clever gaming of the filter that prevents repeating the pun. And also that it is game and player appropriate.

To pen or pan a pun upon a pin. That is the question.
