profK: The simple 31.f4 by white looks like it could upset the applecart !

After 31.f4, 31...Be4+ seems forced. Then on 32.Kg3 Bd4, White has the intermediate move 33.b3,

after which 33...Qb4 keeps the d4-bishop protected, but reduces Black's control of the e8-square, thereby allowing 34.Rxe4. Black can limit the material loss by 34...Bf2+ 35.Rxf2 Qxe4,

but White nonetheless seems to be winning.

Another try after 33.b3 is 33...Qa1, but White seems to be winning after 34.Rxe4

34...Qg1+ 35.Rg2 Bf2+ 36.Kf3 Qd1+ 37.Kxf2 Qc2+ 38.Kg1 Qxe4.

Returning to 31.f4 Be4+ 32.Kg3, Black might instead try 32...Bg7 33.Bxg7 Kxg7, when White's exposed king provides some compensation for Black's material deficit.

Conclusion: it seems that 31.f4 would have helped White consolidate his edge.
