stoy: Can black play 12...Ra7 to stop the check on c7? It might be allright.

sisyphus: Bxb5 is thematic in the Sveshnikov Variation of the Sicilian Pelikan. The database has 48 examples, including one by this well-known player:

Kasparov vs R Pape, 1979

Black has done all right in the few times 12...Ra7 was played. After 13.Nxa7 Nxa7 he has two bishops against rook and two pawns. But White's connected passers make me think it would still be dicey.

Richard Taylor: <szachista: Is 11. Bxb5 a theory?> Yes...Shirov, Nunn and others have played it. At my (ordinary club) level it might work but say Karjakin or Anand V Carlsen would be unclear who would win or if it would be a draw...Shirov abandoned it as he thought it was theoretical draw. Or maybe he just preferred the usual 11. Bd3. Nunn says it is "unclear"...while 11. Nxb5 is "unsound"...
