 | | LIFE Master AJ: Unfortunately, several factors contributed to Abraham's loss here. # 1.) He was rusty, has not played in a tournament in a couple of years. He was WAY behind on the clock in every game that he played! # 2.) He is my student, it was obvious that he was more than a little nervous playing this game. # 3.) He thought for over 20 minutes when I played ...Bg4. Considering the time limit, this was probably a HUGE mistake. # 4.) At the end, he was very upset. I think he got a little mad at himself ... and just let his last 10-15 seconds expire without trying. (He was very courteous, however.) |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: By the way, the time limit for the game was "Game in 35 minutes," plus an increment/delay of 05 seconds per move. |

May-19-10 | | drleper: White doesn't appear to be in trouble here, if the pin is a worry, 19.Kh1 looks like an easy way to get peace of mind. |
|
Jun-21-10 | | Catfriend: In fact, White's evidently better in the final position. Even without silicon analysis, Black K-side weaknesses are significant, while the weak Bb7 and mediocre Nd7 don't help much in terms of Q-side counter-play. Now, looking closer, Nge5 threatens <nothing>. Calmly playing 20.fxe5 dxe5, White can simply proceed with 21.c3 exd4 22.cxd4, it is more or less equal. The c file is soon taken by White, whose central pawns will become a danger in future. But a stronger move exists! <21.Qg5>, with counter-play, forces Black to defend his own pawns. 21..exd4? 22.Qxe7 is excellent, so 21..Rfe8 is required. Now White can, once again, choose the calmer 22.c3, or go for the razor-sharp 22.Qg4!? e6 23.Qh4. Now we have a pretty attack: 23..exd4? 24.Rxf7!! (the reason for the double exclamation will soon be clear) Kxf7 25.Qxh7+ Kf6 26.Rf1+ Ke5 27.Rf7! (not Qxd7? Qc7 with safety) and Black's dead. 23..f6 might be enough - 24.Rxf6 Nxf6 25.Qxf6 exd4 26.Nxd4 and Black should be able, with precise play, to get a draw. In short, in the game, White resigned in a very pleasant position, several moves before a powerful assault. |

Jun-27-10 | | 1. h4: <Catfriend>
Your analysis looks pretty good. However, your move numbers are all one step ahead (d'oh--but don't worry, just a small slip-up), and, as AJ pointed out earlier, White actually ran out of time, not resigned. Before all that, though, Black had a major improvement. At move 15, AJ tried to subtly infiltrate and take advantage of White's loose Q-side (in particular the c3-knight) with 15...Ng4, hitting e3 and c3. This was easily handled with, though, with 16.Bd4. So instead, strangely enough, he should have simply stormed White's position with a common Sicilian tactic--namely, 15...Rxc3. Black achieves a beautiful position after 16.Qxc3 Nxe4 17.Qb3 [Black continues in similar fashion after 17.Qe1] Nc3 18.Rbe1 Nxd5. Black has a strong knight on d5, has destroyed White's strong center, and has himself a potentially mobile pawn-center--all at the non-price of two pawns for the exchange. If White tries 19.Bd2 to save the DSB and protect f4, Black will continue with solid sound moves like 19...N7b6, ...Qc7, and ...Rc8. If White tries to open the position with 19.c4 to rid of his weakness down the c-file, this only serves to help Black's awesome Bishops. 19...Nxe3 20.Rxe3 bxc4 21.Bxc4 Nb6 and Black has a strategically totally won position. |

 | | FSR: This is an undistinguished game against a 1751-rated player, who lost on time, in a perfectly playable position, after just 18 moves. As 1.h4 pointed out, Goldsby missed the very strong 15...Rxc3, leading to a large advantage for Black. While granting that Mr. Nielsen is rated more than 1000 points above some of Goldsby's other opponents, I have no idea why this game is in the database. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: <Catfriend> I agree with everything you said, except you forgot to metion how hard it is to play fast chess and not make a mistake. This same "fish" beat me in a training game at the club tonight. (Thursday.) As for FSR, and the other trolls ... who care what they say? |

Aug-13-10 | | TheFocus: <FSR> I really don't know why CG puts any of his games against these Class players here. What is the point? To show how to crush players rated hundreds of points lower than him? Is there anything to be learned from these games? All it does is allow some doofus Class XYZ player to have a page here. And, it allows <AJ> to flaunt his ego. I would be ashamed of posting a game of mine here against amateurs who barely know how to make the moves. (Not talking about this guy. At least he is rated higher than most of <AJ>'s victims.) |

Ban the trolls! Kill them, cut their heads off and then boil them in oil. Then Chess Games will be a much better site! :) |

Aug-14-10 | | TheFocus: Maybe they should ban your games all together, <AJ>. |

Games posted here at this site should have something that we could learn from. For this game, sadly to say, just a waste of space. Mind you games posted here will be browsed for generations to come. I don't see anything here worthy to pass to the next generation of chess players. |

I'm ashamed to claim 'credit' for some of them! |

WOW! So apple jack here wants to kill people? No wonder his wife left him! |
|
Jun-08-11
 | | FSR: <picard> That's below the belt. His wife "left him" by dying of cancer. But no doubt AJ thinks this site would be improved by confining its membership to him and his sockpuppets. |
|
Jun-08-11 | | Pyke: <picard: ... No wonder his wife left him!> One may say about AJ a lot of things; about his ego, about his views on life, about his chess ... The list goes on and on ... But to imply that his wife left him, when she really died of cancer ... that's just so far beyond sanity and good taste. It's despicable. Picard is certainly just a troll, but some other Kibitzer's - you know who you are! - just encourage these "real" trolls to post such horrendous insults by their constant nagging and repetitive insults. Just to make myself clear:
Is AJ Goldsby innocent? No, certainly not. But neither are you! Again, you know who you are. You are just like AJ, and worse like <Picard>. And posts, such as <Picard>'s are a slap to the face to everyone who has lost a loved one due the grueling death by cancer. |
|
Jun-08-11 | | picard: sorry, my mistake. i read a post a while ago that stated his wife left him and i took it to be true. it just goes to show you that you cant believe everything you read online. for example, i once read that Nakamura is a big time cheater, but clearly this isn't the case, since he is now ranked 6th in the world. my apologies. |
|
Jun-09-11 | | mworld: Please, no wife and kids references, even if Goldsby brings them up they should be left alone by everyone (and us). Lets stick to chess and chess related figures. For people that would put themselves up as being celebrities of sorts or as prominent figures in the field, they are of course fair game for ridicule and to have there smallest actions exaggerated by such means. However, even then most of these figures' families are left out of the limelight to some degree by media and public... |
|
Jun-09-11 | | picard: oh, so there are rules now huh? aj is free to say thing like: "lets cut of the heads of all the trolls" or "i drove a stake through his heart and i will do the same to you". that seems like a threat of violence to me. also, i notice in the posting guidelines it says "no advertising", and yet goldsby is free to promote and give links to his chess websites. On those websites, he asks for "donations" to keep the sites running. so basically he is making money by advertising on this site, and yet no one says a word about it. if chessgames and all aj's supporters are ok with all the stuff he says, i dont see why there should be any rules about what people can say to him, as long as it is not a threat of violence. |
