Nov-07-10  Nightsurfer: International Master (!!) Chris W Baker has set a standard by this match - only 5 years later Mr. Molinari has demonstrated that he has studied the oeuvre of Mr. Baker: Molinari vs Bordais, 1979 ... but one has to be fair, on the other hand: maybe we would have never learned of Baker's noteworthy mishap if it would not have been Baker himself who has published that funny miniature in his book "Learn from Your Chess Mistakes" (pages 139/142). That's cool, for sure!

perfidious: A most inauspicious beginning to Baker's career in this DB, but he improved his game a mite after this calamity.
Nov-01-13  Xeroxx: c3 is bad
Jun-19-19  sea7kenp: 5 c3 looks like a Helpmate move.

FSR: 5.c3 is a very fine move, preparing d4 rather than falling into Black's trap by playing it immediately.
Dec-28-21  JimmyVermeer: c3 would be a very fine move, if everything else about this board position were different.

FSR: I'm guessing that Mr. Baker did not qualify for the British Championship this time?

John Saunders: This game score was published in the Birmingham Daily Post (Peter Gibbs column) on 26 March 1976. The game was played in round 3 of the West Midlands Zonal, British Championship qualifying competition, on 13 March 1976. The precise location was not given but it would not have been Clacton-on-Sea.
