Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-01-14  Bartacus: 26 Ng6+! is probably the favorite move I ever played. The point is if 26...fg6 (if Rg6? 27 Nh7 mate) 27 Ne6+ Kf7 28 Qe5! Bf6 (or Rh7) 29 Ng5+ wins, as ...28 Bg5 allows 29 Qe8+ Kf6 30 Qe6 mate.

OhioChessFan: Terrific move. I hope chessgames.com makes this a Puzzle of the Day sometime.

26. Ng6 fg6 27. Ne6 Kf7 28. Qe5 Nf6

(28...Bf6 29. Ng5 Kg8 30. Qe8 Kf6 31. Qe6x)

29. Ng5 Kg8 30. Qe6 Kh8 31. Qe7 Ng8 and now follows a gentle move which is quite devastating 32. Qf8 Qc6 33. Re8 Qe8 34. Qe6 Ra6 35. Nf7 Kh7 36. Qb8 g5 37. Ng5 Kh8 38. Ne7 Kh7 39. Nh6 Rh6 40. Qc7 White is a Q+P up

The whole point is that White only uses their Knight and Queen (except 33. Re8, where White exchanges their Rook for a Queen).
