GrahamClayton: Curious position after 32. ♕xd5- all four of Black's pieces are threatened by capture.
Dec-15-19  SymphonicKnight: Somewhat sloppy game, but full of exciting twists, surely a delight to any onlookers who were (or will be) watching. ("The whole game is one of the most interesting that we ever played over." – C.E. Ranken), according to the source listed below, who also explains some important historical aspects of the battle.)

Preston Ware is rated by Chessmetrics as in the high 2400s at this time.

Franklin Knowles Young's rating is not given, but based on his results (though he was only 26 at the time of this game), he was probably about as strong as Ware, and had victories over Zukertort and Pillsbury. He wrote fascinatingly in military analogies about chess, as described by Winter http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/... which many have ridiculed, but, nevertheless, show a unique perspective on chess.

You can get a free copy of one of Young's strange Chess books, here. https://ia800202.us.archive.org/1/i...

A fascinating diversion. -- is he sane, or insane?

But in any case ... enjoy this game.
