Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-31-11  howlwolf: Nice crisp attacking game. Its clarity reminds me of Fisher in his prime.
Aug-31-11  haydn20: After 10...0-0, it looks dead equal to me and after 16. Nb5, Black's position looks passive--not sure what happened. 19...Re8 looks disasterous--is there anything better?
Aug-31-11  haydn20: CG cites Pelletier-Shirov Biel 2011 where White played 9 dxc5 with an uneventful draw.
Aug-31-11  haydn20: P.S. Fritz 12 gives 11...Qc7? and 11...Nc6; 12 Nxb4 Qxb4 13. b3=

perfidious: Amazingly passive play by Shirov, as he gets completely run over in this miniature.
Sep-01-11  rilkefan: 28.Rxf7 will presumably appear as a late-week puzzle some day. It took me some time to convince myself it forces mate.
Sep-01-11  whiteshark: What a debacle!
Sep-01-11  hedgeh0g: Good grief...and Shirov is a devoted Slav player...
Sep-01-11  paavoh: Yes, I believe Qc7 followed by Be7 was the turning point. White grabbed the space needed for the B pair and King side attack.
