Jan-14-13  jerseybob: Black plays 23..Nb8 obviously intending Nd7 but the moment never arrives and the knight sits on b8 until way too late. How about 25..Nd7!? Could it be worse than f5?

An Englishman: Good Evening: White's 16th move is written as "16. 1 6Qd1," which causes an error message on my computer and I am stuck at move 15. Also, Black's 16th move isn't written at all.
Oct-09-13  optimal play: Obviously the pun is based on Subu's surname, and this game was played in 1968 (the year the movie Yellow Submarine was released), and it is John Lennon's birthday today, and although Ringo sings this song, I think it was actually written by John.

So overall, a funny & timely pun! :O

Check It Out: Now if Subu had played like a chicken in this game the pun would be sublime, but he did not. There were a few mistakes but his play was very active.
Oct-09-13  Infohunter: <optimal play> According to the wikipedia article the song was written by Paul McCartney, though John Lennon later said that he and Donovan had both helped on the lyrics. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow...
Oct-09-13  optimal play: <Infohunter> Hmmm ... so it does.

Mind you, I have come across some glaring inaccuracies in wiki from time to time. That's not to say they're wrong in this instance but I do recall reading somewhere that it was primarily a Lennon composition.

Anyway, to whoever submitted it, it's still a pretty good pun.

offramp: The Beatles had loads of great songs but this is one of my favourites because children love it. So catchy!

Oct-09-13  amosianboy: 42 Re8+ wins the b8 knight
Oct-09-13  Abdel Irada: Browne could have won a shade faster with 42. Re8+, but by that time the result was not in doubt.

'Yellow Submarine' is primarily a McCartney song, according to "A Hard Day's Write: The Story Behind Every Beatles Song."

Oct-09-13  kevin86: An ugly game-but a win is a win.
May-28-14  TheBish: This game is listed under the Sacrifices section (saying 34. Ng4 is a sacrifice), but this is a misnomer. Presumably listed because after 34. Ng4 Bxf3, the bishop is not recaptured; but that is because White plays 35. Bxh7+ Kxh7 36. Nf6+, winning the exchange! So not a sacrifice at all.
