Phony Benoni: Lahde's biography of Kashdan (p. 176) states that ths game was played in round 1 on August 19. However, the New York Times report of August 22, 1935 shows it was played in Round 2 the previous day, Kashindan having had a bye in round 1 on the 20th.

Now that you are actually looking at the position instead of skipping over another long, boring game from the distant past, you can surely see what Reinfeld should have done instead of resigning.

It's a score error. A small pamphlet of games from the tournament, produced by the NYSCA, concludes with <82.Qe7+ Kg8 83.Kh6>, which admits of no argument. Lahde's bibography of Kashdan also follow that sequence.

83... Qc1+ 84. Kxg6 Qh6+ 85. Kf5 Qg5+ 86. Ke6 Qe5+ with perpetual check, as the Queen can't be captured due to stalemate.

Phony Benoni: <GrahamClayton> You've got the idea, but it's even simpler: <83...Qc1+ 84.Kxg6 Qg5+!> is immediate stalemate no matter how White repatures. Or 84.Ng5 Qxg5+!, with the same result.
