FSR: <24.Nf5!! - as unnecessary as it is strong and not human>

May-15-14  MarkFinan: Brilliant game though, lol. Kasparov, Fischer and Carlsen all rolled into one.
May-15-14  john barleycorn: Now, that's funny.

Ivanov, a comp cheater vs. Kurajica, who came to fame throwing games for money.

The chief arbiter of my dreams would have been Azmaiparashvili.

perfidious: <john b> Here is a nice game from an event which was arranged by Azmai: Azmaiparashvili vs Kurajica, 1995.
May-15-14  john barleycorn: <perfidious> Azmai gained 40 Elo points for a handful of dollars in that event, if I remember correctly.

perfidious: <john b> Rolando Kutirov must have gained even more for going 11.5/18 at Strumica, including his GM title.

Azmai scored 16-2 (loss to Kurajica and two short draws as White vs Kutirov). It defies the laws of probability that any player at the time, apart from possibly Kasparov, could have made 10.5 from twelve games vs Kurajica and Rashkovsky, two experienced GMs.

Allegedly, Lord Byron's last words were :
"I drank 30 glasses of whiskey today that must be a new record".

Kutirov gained 63 points. I can guess what his last words will be.

Well, a lot of dodgy characters around.
However, do not forget Azmai was Kasparov second in Sevilla. He may have learned a lot, too. Just kidding...

Domdaniel: <jb> - <Allegedly, Lord Byron's last words were : "I drank 30 glasses of whiskey today that must be a new record".> Wasn't that Dylan Thomas?
May-21-14  john barleycorn: <Domdaniel> right and Dylan Thomas made it only to 18.

<Dylan Thomas had a passion for drink, women, and poetry (not necessarily in that order). The Welsh poet died on a characteristic note, saying, "I've had 18 straight whiskies . . . I think that's the record.">
