perfidious: <fgh> The Caro-Kann isn't always dull, qv Gipslis vs Seirawan, 1988.
Mar-10-13  wordfunph: from ChessBase..

<Probably the quick draw in the last round against Wesley So (this half a point secured Wesley a 2700 rating for the next list) was not the ‘ideal’ end for the hardcore seekers but hey! Try yourself to play in the last round, in the morning, with a lot of money at stake, pressure, etc. After all, professional chess players are not only showmen to delight the public’s eyes but also hard workers who should bring home the bacon. A draw is always a step forward and a perfect end of the Reykjavik Open for the Ukrainian and Filipino grandmasters.>

Mar-11-13  fgh: <perfidious>: I was joking. Although I did once try to make it a part of my repertoire (since I was growing increasingly tired of the Italian Game), and found it incredibly lifeless.

perfidious: <fgh> Tell you what: when it comes to the Classical (4....Bf5), that would bore me. The variation with 4....Nf6 5.Nxf6+ gxf6 is much more fun to play.

Funny, you know, often as I answered 1.e4 with 1....e5, never tried the Petrov, nor had any desire. Berlin Wall? Here's what I think of that:

Jul-12-13  The Rocket: Couldn't they get fined for drawing this early?
Jul-12-13  Pulo y Gata: The organizers thought it was that: fine.
Jul-12-13  The Rocket: <"The organizers thought it was that: fine.">

Apparently <so>. Get it?

Jul-12-13  Pulo y Gata: <Get it?>

Of course, it ain't no Rocket science.

Jul-12-13  The Rocket: <"Of course, it ain't no Rocket science.">

My god, you are one clever dude. Anyway, gata go now.

Jul-12-13  Pulo y Gata: Ok, bye. Be careful riding your, you know...
Jul-12-13  whiteshark: <perfidious: ..The Caro-Kann isn't always dull, qv..> I tripped over this one: Timman vs Seirawan, 1990

perfidious: <dx9293....Everybody needs to stop acting so outraged.>

I'll sign that.

Mar-20-14  chessclarinet1: I am outraged at this draw. Three moves.

offramp: This so called game is a complete and utter and absolute and utter scandal. It's even worse than Mars Needs Women.
Nov-17-14  956043: Everyone knows the Grunfeld is a technical draw.
Nov-17-14  john barleycorn: User: everyone

knows

User: technical draw

Nov-17-14  Everyone: <956043: Everyone knows the Grunfeld is a technical draw.> There is nothing new in this notion.
Nov-21-14  tranquilsimplicity: And therefore the conclusion seems to be that since Carlsen seems to be playing for draws because he is already ahead, Anand needs to unleash an uncompromising opening that forces the opponent to play rather than consolidate and wait. I suggest; Anand's final game as White should be a King's Gambit, and a Latvian Gambit or King's Indian Defence as Black.#
Nov-21-14  tranquilsimplicity: Sorry: the previous post is at the "wrong" game.#
Dec-09-14  Appaz: <<tranquilsimplicity> Sorry: the previous post is at the wrong "game".>

FTFY.

Apr-24-15  bobthebob: Is this final position a theoretical draw?

perfidious: <They> evidently thought So, one might say.
Jul-18-15  jith1207: I don't understand the final position. Well, of course, I understand the position but not that it is final.
Jul-18-15  breakbad: Another excellent preparation by So. gg
