Honza Cervenka: 30...Be8 was a tactical slip leading to loss of Queen for Rook and Bishop after pretty 31.Nf5 but for white it is not easy to convert this material advantage to win of the game, as the position is very closed. Maybe something like 35.Bc3 Bf5 36.Be1 Rf7 37.Qh5 Kg8 38.Kf1 h6 39.Bh4 Bf8 40.c4 was the best practical chance to play for win. In final position black is already consolidated and perfectly safe despite of small material deficit.

nizmo11: according Harding, game 70 (McFarland,2020), this game is not from the Steinitz - Green match December 1863/January 1864, but is a casual game played earlier in July or August 1862.
