FSR: Black either accedes to the perpetual or loses. That's his choice. I think he'll take the perp.

Jun-23-15  MindCtrol9: Not me, Caruana failed.Caruana playing fast trying to win on time.Caruana had to take time and think that the only possibility Topalov had was to find a way for a perpetual.

eternaloptimist: It's quite possible (& unfortunate) that all 5 games will probably be draws today (4 of them already have been drawn).
Jun-23-15  Karne: Above all, Caruana needs to urgently realize that he's absolute garbage at blitz.

FSR: Nice try, <MindCtrol9>. Where is the win that Caruana missed?
Jun-23-15  MindCtrol9: <FSR> To play weak and endgame which was won.
Jun-23-15  MindCtrol9: With this game, I realized that Caruana is a little far to become Champion of the World, at least for now.

Jun-23-15  Octavia: Hammer-Giri is a good example how comps are inferior to humans. Comps say white is winning because superior material but humans say its a draw because white can't get through.

uh.. Caruana used MORE time than Topalov. The clocks over his head show he used 8 minutes more than Topa at the game finish.

Jun-23-15  JAMESROOK: Whiteshark - now I must confess the 'truth'. my endgame/chess knowledge is about zero.

Perhaps you do not know how computers play chess and evaluate positions. They (or at least Stockfish) indicated that White (Hammer) was <better> but not that he was <winning>. It depends on the engine since each engine has a different evaluation function and its numerical evaluation of the position will be different than the numerical evaluation of the same position by other engines, but in order for a position to be considered winning for White, the numerical evaluation must typically be higher than the range of [+1.50] to [+2.00], and at no time during the game was Stockfish's evaluation above [+1.50].

Take, for example, the position after 53...Kf7

Stockfish 6's initial evaluation at d=8 was [+0.99], the equivalent of a pawn ahead. Letting Stockfish 6 calculate for a while to d=41 (about 2 ½ minutes on my computer) resulted in an evaluation of [+0.22], and at d=42 (about 10 seconds later) it gave an evaluation of [+0.16]. So at this point Stockfish was indicating that the chances were about even for both sides. And, the longer Stockfish calculated, the more even it evaluated the position to be.

And at no time did White have a material advantage in this game. Stockfish was evaluating the positional characteristics of the position and correctly evaluated the position to be slightly in White's favor since Black had doubled and isolated e-pawns and its c-pawn was weak.

So Stockfish evaluated the position as White having some positional advantages but not enough to win. Seems pretty accurate to me, don't you agree?

Booooooooo!!! =))

Jun-23-15  MindCtrol9: <SpekSalam>I just have an answer:When did you learn to play chess or you can only rely on computers because your brain is not capable to think? No respect? No respect.A .GM should be aware of any tactical play especially playing another .GM like Topalov.Just another thing like Volombo says:I don't play checkers or any other game, but chess.
Jun-23-15  SpekSalam: <MindCtrol9: Topalov will resign soon.>
Jun-23-15  cplyakap: Complicated draw,it isn't easy.Congratz Topalov!
Jun-23-15  MindCtrol9: When I was washing the game, I saw a move that called my attention which was <31...Qc3> I liked it because controls the squares a1, a5,b2, b4, and c line. You can not allow your enemy get or live in your house.Yes, the endgame was not as easy as at first glance, but if I can get with my Queen inside your camp, just play your very best chess, but I am not going to fall in a tactical play with just a few pieces on the board. Some people may think:This guy is a talker, a big mouse.I'm not, which I proved it 2 years ago when the city where I live organized the 1st tournament. This was at half an hour each.I did sleep 2 hours only and I got to the place too late missing one game, but I won the rest of them.I got 2nd place because of that. The guy who got 1st played me two times after the trophies, and I beat him easily. He, then, asked me why.I told him that it was my experience and knowledge acquired for years.I'm not a .GM, but I'm very very far from being stupid.
Jun-23-15  Calli: Thought Caruana had him on 33...h6! Just shows you how slippery Vaseline can be.
