Jun-14-23 | | catlover: I like the pun. Is it just me, or are the puns this week following a cereal theme? I'm not familiar with this opening. Maybe an earlier 15. Nd2 would have been better. |

 | | fredthebear: The white Rice does get eaten up in this game! |
|
Jun-14-23 | | catlover: True. However, at least in this game Rice isn't crispy. ;-) |

 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: "Snap, Crackle and Pop" refers to an American cereal called Rice Krispies. Then you have "Chris B" which sounds almost like "crispy." This elegant pun works on many levels. And it's always nice to see a Schmid Benoni, esp. when the defense succeeds. Love how Black's pieces sneak around White's center and then penetrate deep into the position. |

 | | FSR: "Chris B. Rice"? Are you kidding me? Snape snapped, crackled, and popped him but good. |
|
Jun-14-23 | | goodevans: White went to great lengths to establish a N on b6 that didn't really do anything, unlike Black's rather excellent B on b5. He also seemed oblivious to the weakness on e2 which became the bridgehead for Black's invasion. In White's shoes I'd have been tempted to play c4 at some point, at least then the N on b6 would have served some purpose. Seems pretty obvious doesn't it? Superb pun. The second on 'Rice Krispies' this week. Can't wait for the next one in this serial. |

...NO MORE RICE KRISPIES!!!
Cereally, though, good pun. |

Jun-14-23 | | Brenin: I'm not sure whether that pun is corny or flaky. Anyway, I like it. Enjoyable game, too. |

 | | playground player: I can't help wondering why White, in effect, took his Knight out of the game. |

 | | Teyss: <OhioChessFan> Don't be jealous, surely Missy will select one of your puns soon. <goodevans> <playground player> Was also wondering what that Knight was doing there for most of the game, probably White read somewhere a N on 6th rank is winning. Or the location inspired him to launch his cavalry forward. |

 | | perfidious: In typical Benoni middlegames, it represents success when White stifles ....b7-b5 and, moreover, leaves his opponent's light-squared bishop on the board, typically the worst minor piece, not to mention that he never played c2-c4, giving up control over d4 by a pawn, a square which features prominently in his opponent's plans. All these advantages came as Rice forgot about the concrete features of the position and gave his opponent all the play he could ever want elsewhere on the board. |
