Super title! Well done OhioChessFan
Another merciless slaughter by MCarlsen |

Jun-17-18
 | | kingfu: White could have had a better shot at The Champ with 5. Bb5+ instead of c4. "And don't call me Suri!" |
|
Jul-03-18 | | ChessHigherCat: : As yoda would say "Bad vaib have"
(vaib is really pronounced vibe)
12. Qxd4 Qe7+ 13. Kd2 (Kf2 Bc5 pins the Q) Rd8 14. Qxd8 Qxd8+ 15. Ke1 Qd4 leads to a position where white has slightly more points but his development is so lousy it's hopeless |
|
Jul-03-18 | | Sonia lamba: Oh Vaibhav dream crash ...But this is still like magnus copying and verifying ...He must be on slow note |
|
Jul-03-18
 | | al wazir: This game is beyond weird. Is the opening a computer-generated line? |
|
Jul-03-18 | | 7he5haman: 12. Qxd4 Qe7+ 13. Kf4? Bd6+ 14. Kxf5 Qe6+ 15. Kg-
5 h6+ 16. Kh4 g5# |
|
Jul-03-18 | | morfishine: As <ChessHigherCat> points out, Vaib is pronounced 'vibe', as in 'bad vibes', so another sad, pathetic game-title gets relegated to the dust bin of lunatic irrelevancy...and yet again, a game, a poor innocent game, falls victim to a game title submitter who yet again, failed to do their homework; a game title submitter who was probably caught up in tickled excitement, convinced a brilliant game title had been born, only to be informed that his dreams of glory have been dashed by a simple, elementary, almost infant oversight A little quality control around here would go a long way |

 | | Richard Taylor: Here's a nice line, haven't bothered checking it someone one might: If 14. Qe1 what happens I thought.
14. Qe1 then Nf5+ 15. Nxc5 Qd4+ 16. Ke2 Re8+ 17. Ne4 Rxe4+ 18. fxe4 Qd3+ 19. Kf2 Ng4# However the point of the pun evades me... |
|
Jul-03-18 | | moodini: <OhioChessFan> Looks like you need to put the champagne back on ice. <ChessGames> I hope heads are going to roll over this one. |
|
Jul-03-18
 | | Richard Taylor: 5. Bc4 probably isn't as good as 5. g4 or 5. Bd3. But 5 c4 is o.k.
I went completely wrong as White in this opening and lost. But with good play White should be o.k. It is a tricky opening though. |

 | | takchess: @richard taylor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BER... @al wazir GM Smerdon wrote a book on the Scandinavian which looks at this line and others. The Portuguese lines are very sharp and can lead to some miniatures. These moves define the Portuguese I believe/ http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... |

 | | Richard Taylor: <al wazir: This game is beyond weird. Is the opening a computer-generated line?> It could be but there are some quite strange lines in this variation where the White King goes to f2 and so on and White is better. But there are easier ways for White to play this. Clearly both players wanted a stoush. |
|
Jul-03-18 | | dumbgai: Grabbing material in the opening against Carlsen is not a good idea. |

 | | takchess: @Morfishine ....The Horror.... |
|
Jul-03-18 | | mrknightly: <ChessHigherCat> <morfishine> Check this link. Sounds more like "babe" to me rather than "vibe." Just saying.

Jul-03-18 | | Ilkka Salonen: Sure, we all love MC here at FIDE zone 1.3. However, he maybe wouldn't want to comment on our expressions of affection. |
|
Jul-03-18 | | ChessHigherCat: <Mr Knghtly) Nah, any good Sanskrit scholar knows that the diphthong "ai" = (as in "Open wide and say "aaah"!) plus "i" (as in eeee-gad!) sounds like "ay" (as in ayayay!) |

Jul-03-18
 | | Sneaky: <vabe vs vibe> ssssshhhh... don't spoil morf's fun. He lives for this stuff. So what's White's error here? I've never seen the Scandi get so much counterplay so quick. Is 4.f3 the culprit? |
|
Jul-03-18 | | cormier: Stockfish 8 (minimum 7s/ply) 6. de6 <better is 6.Nc3> exd5 7.g4 Bg6 8.g5 Nfd7 9.Nxd5 Nc6 10.c5 Ne7 + / = +0.56 (23 ply) |
|
Jul-03-18 | | thegoodanarchist: < al wazir: This game is beyond weird. Is the opening a computer-generated line?> IMO the World Champ was just having some fun, showing a 2500+ player that Magnus wouldn't respect him. Chess version of AMOG-ing. |

 | | Richard Taylor: <takchess: @richard taylor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BER... This was lost on me although it reminded me of Cher. I don't know the names of songs to put to singers in most cases. But I also would have pronounced the name "vibe". I didn't occur to me it was consonant with "babe". Reasonably clever otherwise. I believe Russians and all that lot pronounce 'v's as 'b's or am I thinking of the funny B they have...? <@al wazir GM Smerdon wrote a book on the Scandinavian which looks at this line and others. The Portuguese lines are very sharp and can lead to some miniatures. These moves define the Portuguese I believe/ http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... There are so many tricky openings in chess! Is that the Australian player Smerdon? |

Jul-30-18 | | posoo: AS DIS game shows, da man MURFUDLIAN is very bad at pronouncing rusan names: A Lein vs J Barle, 1979 |
|
Mar-06-20 | | deanman58: In a recent online Rapid game, I played 11...Bc2!! 12.Qd2 Ng4+!! 0-1 |

Apr-05-21 | | saintdufus: <takchess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyV... gm quickly goes overs some combinations where black clean house.> Agadmator is not a GM, he's actually an A-player. |

 | | FSR: <deanman58> By pure coincidence, your line had previously been played in G Hetenyi vs Csaba Rakaczki, 2012. |
