HeMateMe: Karjakin doesn't seem to be the same player he was two years ago.
Aug-25-18  Ulhumbrus: The sudden rise in the computer evaluation for white after the move 27...f6 suggests that 27...f6?? is a blunder whoch loses immediately after the skewer 28 Rd1!

Aug-26-18  Caissa04: It seems Karjakin only gives Caruana a beating in Candidate tournaments.
Aug-27-18  thegoodanarchist: Sergey is not having a good tournament, I must say...
Aug-28-18  Albanius: According to Stockfish as well as the limited set of games in this Nimzo-Catalan hybrid, 8..Nd5! would have given Black a slight edge.

It is hard for W either to recover the gambit pawn or show sufficient compensation.

Aug-28-18  Albanius: Ulhumbrus: "The sudden rise in the computer evaluation for white after the move 27...f6 suggests that 27...f6?? is a blunder whoch loses immediately after the skewer 28 Rd1!"

Finding a better 27th move for B is not so easy, due to weak back rank.

W threatens 28 Nxe5
27..Rxc4 28 Rxc4 Qxc4?? 29 Qxd8#
27..Rc6 28 Qxb8!
