 | | maxi: It is to Carlsen's advantage to get rid of the queens in these games. |
Nov-16-18 | | BOSTER: Any game without queen's is the same like show without girls. |
Nov-16-18 | | ChessHigherCat: Who leaked my Bg3 plan to Fabi? |
Nov-16-18
 | | moronovich: 19.a4 looks like the most natural move in the position |
Nov-16-18 | | Pedro Fernandez: Good reasoning <Ulhumbrus>. After of last exchange I don't like long castling anymore, I think the current position is equal, though. |
Nov-16-18
 | | moronovich: Perhaps the 10(!)Knight moves in row in the opening is a record for a worldchampionship !? |

 | | AylerKupp: <<Pedro Fernandez> BTW, 15...Bd7 followed by 16...0-0-0 was not crazy > I don't think it was crazy either but in the endgame the king usually belongs in the center. True, this game is best described as a queenless middlegame and not an endgame (like the classical Exchange variation of the Ruy Lopez, 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Bxc6 dxc6 5.d4 exd4 6.Qxd4 Qxd4 7.Nxd4)
click for larger viewSo, since his king does not appear to be in any danger and because of what <Ulhumbrus> said, I don't think that Caruana will castle on either side. He might even copy Carlsen and play ...f6 and ...Kf7. |

 | | AylerKupp: <<sudoplatov> Continue, there never is a threefold repetition of move sequences (there are repetitions of positions.)> I don't mean to insult you but I just wanted to make sure that you know the draw by repetition rule, it does not involve a threefold repetition of <move sequences> but a repetition of <positions>, with the same player to move. See section 9.2 of https://www.fide.com/FIDE/handbook/.... I would hate for you (or anyone) to be in a situation where they thought that their opponent could not claim a draw because a move sequence had not been repeated 3 times in succession but the position had, and it was not necessary for it to be repeated in succession. |

Nov-16-18 | | diceman: <Penguincw:
This is Carlsen's first of 2 straight whites. Big boost in his favour.> Should be, but black has been better in games 1 through 5. |
Nov-16-18 | | ChessHigherCat: (Moro) No way, haven't you heard of the legendary 1,001-Knight-moves game? |
Nov-16-18 | | Atking: 20.Re1 Ne7 21.Bg5 Kd7 22.Re2 f6 23.R1e1 was anotheridea. |
Nov-16-18 | | Marmot PFL: <This is Carlsen's first of 2 straight whites. Big boost in his favour.> No big deal with a rest day in between. |
Nov-16-18 | | JAMESROOK: Hi everybody!
this position seems equal to me. I wouldnt want to play either side, personally, but that's why i'm merely a club player. Another draw? |

 | | moronovich: <ChessHigherCat: (Moro) No way, haven't you heard of the legendary 1,001-Knight-moves game?> No,I haven“t.But I suppose it is not played in the opening !? |
Nov-16-18
 | | moronovich: Oh,sorry <CHC> Just as i typed I understood under reference ! ;) |
Nov-16-18 | | RookFile: This is pretty lame by Carlsen. Move 20 and this already has draw written all over it. |
Nov-16-18
 | | moronovich: Magnus going for Ng2/Bf4 or Ng2-Nf4!? |
Nov-16-18 | | ChessHigherCat: That's okay, it was kind of lame. Anyway, off to the airport for a couple weeks in Gringolandia. Enjoy the rest of the game! |
Nov-16-18 | | Allanur: Fabi is behind by 20 minutes. I am afraid Magnus will score today |
Nov-16-18 | | Atking: Looks a bit too slow Now 21...c5! should equalize definitively. |
Nov-16-18 | | not not: Giri and Leko have just opened champagne bottle to celebrate the most possible outcome |
Nov-16-18 | | Pedro Fernandez: Agree with you <AK> about the game is early. My idea was prepare an attack on the white kingside, but dude, the middle and ending of this game looks pretty complex. 5 major pieces and a lot of pawns per side on board! |

 | | moronovich: <ChessHigherCat: That's okay, it was kind of lame. Anyway, off to the airport for a couple weeks in Gringolandia. Enjoy the rest of the game!> Enjoy your trip <CHC> ! You dont miss much of a game today. |
Nov-16-18 | | lost in space: already draw agreed? |
Nov-16-18 | | goldenbear: <JAMESROOK> I don't know. Suppose g6 Ne7 Kd7 Bf5 were played and the pieces were exchanged on f5, leaving Black with doubled f-pawns. Then, the rooks were exchanged along the e-file. Is that position a hopeless draw? If it is, then I think this game will be drawn easily. If it's not, then it could be a long game. |
