Round 6 TWIC report:

https://theweekinchess.com/chessnew...

"Carlsen in the "confession booth" said he was unhappy that he hadn't prepared for 10...c5 but he found an interesting pawn sacrifice which posed too many problems for Duda. "

I recall noting up a game of mine in a magazine and was hit with a TN. I sacced a paw adding 'I bet he never thought of that!.' (He never and I won!)

Carlsen 1-0. Normal service has been resumed.

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: First reaction; Carlsen did not sacrifice a pawn, he blundered it away, scrambled for compensation and got lucky. Second reaction; um, no, actually Duda had many opportunities to make bad moves at each and every turn.

So Carlsen can play a little like Tal. His opponents must find that quite reassuring.

Oct-14-20  MordimerChess: The game was really complicated, Duda in the interview didn't even know wth is Nge2. I saw Magnus played it in similar positions but yeah, it brings a lot of different geometry to the board and pieces.

FSR: That fianchettoed knight looked disgusting. Looking at this game, you could hardly believe that the same player had beaten Carlsen the day before.

perfidious: <FSR>, Duda's victory in the aforementioned game was his moment in the sun--there were but few others worthy of mention for the young Polish grandmaster in this event.

HeMateMe: 26 moves. You just knew something was going to happen, with black having to stick his Knight on b7 and those two long range Bishop snipers aimed at blacks King.
