FSR: All the cool kidz are playing this ridiculous trap now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oks... Not recommended for long time-control games.

fredthebear: Viva Las Internet! Another stinging miniature from <FSR>!

I was unaware of the 2...Bc5 version of this gambit. Opening Explorer has only one other game in this line, by the world champ himself: Carlsen vs Daniel Thomassen, 1999

Carlsen played e2–e3 at once, I see. Very circumspect. Nice game, FSR!

Honza Cervenka: I guess that less cooperative 5.Nc3 would have been better.
Dec-10-20  theagenbiteofinwit: A very hard lesson in neglecting one's development for the primrose path.

3.Nc3 or 4.Nc3 safeguards against black's ill intentions, but I like 3.Bg5 where black's only trick is to decide whether they prefer a vacant f7 square, a pinned knight on e7 or a poorly-placed queen on d7.

  Korora: Marshall's 1940 ♙-pushing opening against Ragosin this wasn't.

FSR: For those of you who were lying awake at night wondering how to respond to this powerful gambit: https://denverchess.com/games/view/... This game is the only one so far with 4...Ne7 to be found on ChessBase Online. By contrast, the move has been played 5,432 times on lichess according to that site's Opening Explorer. White fell for it with 5.dxe7?? 2,856 times (52.6% of the time). A lot of the games are bullet, so the game quality isn't necessarily the highest. E.g., https://lichess.org/jQM529yy.

FSR: Of course 13...Qc5+ was more accurate than 13...f6.
Oct-12-24  areknames: <Honza> yes, 5.Nc3 is certainly better. Weird opening and game!

FSR: It's just a cheap trap for blitz or bullet. Fun if your opponent falls for it, but objectively worthless.
