Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-24-23  Brenin: 29 Nf6+ Kxf7 (otherwise 30 Qxh7 mate) and now White has a choice of winning lines 30 Qxh7+ Rg7 31 Nh5+ or 30 Qd7+ Kf8 31 Qd6+ Kf7 (Kg7 32 Qe7+ and 33 Qxh7 mate) 32 e6+ Kg7 33 Qe7+ and 34 Qxh7 mate.
Aug-24-23  stacase: Well, it's important for White to manage g4 so Black can't say check and screw up this won game.
Aug-24-23  mel gibson: That was easy.

Stockfish 16 says mate in 6.

29. Nf6+

(29. Nf6+ (Nh5-f6+ Kg8xf7 Qh3-d7+ Kf7-f8 Qd7-d6+ Kf8-f7 e5-e6+ Kf7-g7 Qd6-e7+ Kg7-h8 Qe7xh7+) +M6/142 10)

Breunor: I went for 30 Q X h7 ch. I guess Qd7 ch is technically better but both win easily.
Aug-24-23  agb2002: White has a knight for a bishop and a pawn.

Black threatens Qxe5 and has a potentially annoying check on e4.

The knight blocks the queen. This suggests 29.Nf6+ Kxf7 (else 30.Qxh7#) 30.Qxh7+:

A) 30... Rg7 31.Ne4+

A.1) 31... Ke6 32.Nxg5+ Rxg5 (32... Kxe5 33.Qxg7+ Kd7 34.Qxd4 wins) 33.Rf6+ Kxe5 34.Qe7#.

A.2) 31... Ke7 32.Qxg7+ Ke6 (else 33.Rf8#) 33.Nxg5#.

A.3) 31... Ke8 32.Qh8+ Kd7 33.Qxg7+ Be7 (33... Kc8 34.Rf8+ Bd8 35.Nd6+ and mate next; 33... Ke6 34.Nxg5#) 34.e6+, followed by 35.Qxd4, wins.

A.4) 31... Bf4 32.Rxf4+ just drops the bishop.

B) 30... Ke6 31.Qd7+ Kxe5 32.Rf5#.

C) 30... Kf8 31.Nd7+ Ke8 32.Rf8#.

Aug-24-23  jffun1958: 29. Nf6+ Kxf7 30. Qd7+ Kf8 31. Qd6+ Kg7 32. Qe7+ Kh6(h8)
33. Qxh7#
Aug-24-23  TheaN: In this forced mate sequence is a tad bit tricky to see all the ways Black can respond but after <29.Nf6+ Kxf7 (else Qh7#) 30.Qd7+ Kf8 31.Qd6+> White shuts the door for good, as <31....Kf7 (Kg7 32.Qe7+ transposes) 32.e6+ Kg7 33.Qe7+ with 34.Qxh7#>.

The main pattern here is the Nf6+ magnetizing the king to f7, after which Qd7+ makes sure Black doesn't return to the corner immediately.

Aug-24-23  jffun1958: ... and another, more complete solution:
29. Nf6+ Kxf7 30. Qd7+ Kf8 31. Qd6+ (Kf7 32. e6+ Kg7 33. Qe7+ Kh6 34. Qxh7#) Qd6+ Kg7 32. Qe7+ Kh6(h8) 33. Qxh7#

chrisowen: I beep quick jump if you v it z Nf6+ aka awooga job arrive oi abc claw it Nf6+ dub?
Aug-24-23  Hercdon: Nf6 was easy the problem was the followup
Aug-24-23  Refused: 29.Nf6+ Kxf7 was fairly obvious.

After that I settled for the infoerior (but still easily winning) continuation with 30.Qxh7+

saw this was winning and didn't bother looking for anything better.

Aug-25-23  King.Arthur.Brazil: My choice is: 29. Nf6+ (Bxf6 30. Qxh7#), 29. Nf6+ Kxf7 30. Qxh7+ Rg7 31. Nh5+ Ke6 32. Nxg7+ Kxe5 33. Re1+ (Kf4 34. Qf5# or Kf6 34. Nh5#) Kd6 34. Nf5+ Kc5 35. Nxd4 Kxd4 , wins the cherished ♕).
