FSR: Anna Cramling says that White, a WIM, spent 13 minutes on 9.f3?? Correct was 9.Ng5 or 9.Ng1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbG...
May-02-24  Granny O Doul: If we argue that ....Bh3 is counter-intuitive (ceding the bishop pair, exchanging for an offsides knight) there still would be ...Nxf3+ winning a pawn.

I'm afraid it's going to be hard to make a case for 9. f3.

FSR: <Granny O Doul> I'm guessing that White wanted to play 9.O-O-O, but didn't like the response 9...Bg4, so she thought to prevent that with 9.f3. But yeah, massive brain fart. White is rated over 2100. Obviously her brain wasn't firing on all cylinders that day.

9.Ng5 could have led to tactics similar to those arising in the game, if Black had answered that move by 9...f6 10. Nf3 Bh3. Then I think White would have to go in for 11.Nxd4 Bxg2 12.Ne6 Qd7 13.Nxg7+ Qxg7 14.Rg1 Bf3 15.Nd5 Qd7 16.Qa5 Kf7, and I'm not sure who's better.
