perfidious: And as happens in many another razor-sharp line, the fun burns out and leaves a level ending.
Dec-05-23  jerseybob: Has this line ever been played to this position?
Dec-05-23  EvanTheTerrible: Just a draw line that all the strong GMs are aware of, I guess. 8 games played through 18...Bxc3 in the lichess Masters' database. All the pieces are getting exchanged by that point.

tamar: Might be all theory. Niemann did not use more than 51 seconds on any move, and ended the game with more time than he started.

<"Niemann and Tabatabaei were playing bullet at the party last night, before heading off together and generally looking best buddies. Hence their quick (dare I say pre-arranged?) draw today not a huge surprise.">

I'm not bothered about the apparent insinuation that this was a cosy up game. But where was my invite to the party?

Dec-05-23  EvanTheTerrible: I'm not a fan of such games, but at least they seem to reserve it for playing each other as opposed to making this their style in general. It's hard to want to press against someone who you've done opening work with and against someone you would rather not hurt the tournament standing of.
