Black Vampire: I can't get why this was agreed to a draw. Is it not a victory for White?

<Q - On electronic chess board, after game ends I have seen arbitrators keep the king at the middle of the board [i.e. (e,d)(4,5)].

Where to place kings on board after 1-0/0-1/0.5-0.5?

If there are some other pieces at the middle where too keep the kings/move that piece?

>

A - I believe on white squares is white wins, on black squares is black wins. One of each color is a draw.

If pieces are in the way, they move them out of the way.

So, always beware when the final move of a game puts a king on the 4 center squares.

Jan-29-24  stone free or die: It's unfortunate that one can't simply go to the DGT and simply navigate to info about the <"king placement"> for the <"end of game">.

A google search yields a screenshot of the manual (I think), with the above info and these additional caveats:

<To put the Kings in this position be sure that the move of the first King should be an illegal move. If in the first situation white has to move and his King was on e4 and he moves it to d5, this move is legal and will be included in the game's notation. In that case the black King should be moved first.

To be sure you can lift both Kings before placing them back in the center fields.>

It appears that the caution about either removing both kings, or ensuring the king move to the center square is an illegal move, isn't universally known.

(Thus we have the extra move for this game in the tournament source, now deleted by some <CG> admin)
