Korora: Nakamura's the one who's scary good at speed chess, right? Because he's got a lot less time on the clock than Abasov.

Check It Out: Engines give white a +1 advanatage after move 25. Naka's pieces have better scope and space, and that b8 square is tender as is h7. Time to attack.

perfidious: Looks as though 27.Bd6, followed by snatching the morsel on a3, is indeed very good for White. Tough for Abasov to get his pieces out of the box.

Check It Out: 27.g5 looks like a good way to progress the attack.

perfidious: Time for another tack: combine play against the weakness on a3 with Bc1, while tying Black up as he strikes a blow with g5, with potentially devastating consequences.

stevemcd87: At move 29, I'm somewhat surprised to see SF prefers for white to exchange rooks rather than Bh7 to get a rook for a bishop.

perfidious: <steve>, likely because in the resultant position, Naka's rook apparently has plenty of freedom, but in reality very little to do, and the Black position looks solid.

Easy for <fishie> to say and so much harder for we humans to work out, especially with the clock relentlessly ticking.

Apr-15-24  EvanTheTerrible: Endgame looks better for black if Nakamura doesn't find a way soon.
Apr-15-24  EvanTheTerrible: <steve>, the line I saw from David Pruess was Bh7 Kxh7 Rxf8 Ng6 Rb8 Nxf4 Qxf4 Bc7 Qc1 Bxb8 Qb1+ and it's equal, more or less.

Korora: Two ♙s, including a passer, for the Exchange.

FSR: Still looks messy to this human, but SF says 46.Ra5 and eating the pawn wins.
Apr-15-24  AdolfoAugusto: Lots of pawns, strong bishops... looks scary for white, but the module says Naka is +2, and there is plenty of time. I would like Abasov to win or at least hold a draw but,
Apr-15-24  AdolfoAugusto: Naka has all the options now
Apr-16-24  RookFile: This was a must win game for Nakamura and he got it. Good for him.

HeMateMe: Really enjoyed Nak's middle game play here. After black loses the bishop pair he is losing the game.
