May-02-24  paavoh: Last year, Svidler prevailed against Erigaisi in a well-played endgame (Svidler vs A Erigaisi, 2023).
May-02-24  whiteshark: The position seems to be balanced, but there is still some room for maneuver due to the various imbalances.

It's great to see that the bloody Berlin has been thrown into the skip.

offramp: At move 21 I think Mr Svidler has a very good position. I actually think he (PS) is going to win.

offramp: In that previous diagram, after 21. Ra3, White might be tempted to play Bxd5?? Big mistake - we all know that White has to keep hold to the ws♗.

offramp: This is going to be a really good Live Game. I have seen a few boring games at <cg.com>; it's a matter of luck.

  offramp: White played 22.Bb5.

I think that Bb5 is a load of garbage.
Better was 22. Ba2, with Bb1 in the future.

offramp: Has anyone noticed that Arjun Erigaisi looks identical to 1950s throwback Hedley Lamarr, from <Blazing Saddles>?

played
21...Nb6.
Svidler was taking the piss out of White: he was trolling!
White had <ONE GOOD PIECE:> the wsb.

Svidler goaded White to play the stupid move Bc4-Bb5xBb5xc6.

Totally ridiculous play from White.

offramp: User: Susan Freeman It is nice to have intercourse with you at chessgames.com. Don't take any of my comments seriously. I tend to write comments totally for my own enjoyment. I spend all day laughing at my own jokes.

offramp: There is a difference between chess and comedy:

With comedy, if you do your job really badly, no one laughs.

offramp: Peter solved the problem of the Nb6, he found a good square at d5.

the Q at f3 is a big target.
The R at a3 isn't much use....
White must be weeping into his changa'a.

An Englishman: Good Morning: Happy Thursday, all! Had to arrive late, will have to leave early, darn it. Can't figure White's play--what plan did he have? The Black Knight's tour looks clever, and Svidler might have the better of a drawn game.
