offramp: People play a lot of blitz and their brains overheat.
Sep-09-24  areknames: Ok, this is just absolute rubbish. One certainly cannot accuse Niemann of winning this because of something inserted up his caboose.

12..Nc5.

They were playing each other on different computers, a very plausible move is 12...c5 so this was possibly a screw up using the pre-move feature. The alternative is offramp's diagnosis, an overheated brain.

Sep-09-24  areknames: Yes of course 12..c5 is plausible, I just don't see the point of these games.
Sep-09-24  Bobby Fiske: The match format was 90min 5+1, 60min 3+1 and 15min 1+1 (bullet), although all are labeled "Blitz" it seems.

In the Bullet games in both Magnus matches, there are some lacklustre games towards the end, since the outcome already was decided.

Jun-01-25  Messiah: Ouch! :-)
