Won the 2007 South African Championship. His third place in the African Continental Championships 2011 with 6.5/9 earned him an IM norm and qualified him for participation in the World Cup (2011). He bowed out in the first round to Ukraine's super-GM Vassily Ivanchuk. He played on board 3 for South Africa in the Chess Olympiad (2012) held in Istanbul, scoring a double IM norm.

Jan-29-08  FICSwoodpusher: Henry Steel is the winner of last years SA closed. This is the top tournament in South Africa. I don't know his exact age but I think he is still a scholar (secondary school).
